fantasy football(american)

anyone interested in having another league this year? i was commish last year but im not going to be this year cus of the incidents last year. but would anyone else want to be commish and do we have any interest from others?

i do a few in rl and one online with my starcraft friends.

if the starcraft one doesn't pan through i'd be in.

what type of draft? just standard online one?

maybe a vent / auction type?

im down for any kind of draft w/ the default being a live online draft and we can all get on the LP vent server, min. buyin atleast 50$

OK, I set the league up. here are the details:

Now, there are several issues to go over. First is the live draft time. If everyone agrees, I guess we could do it over ventrilo, but I suggest just using yahoo's live draft software because it makes things so much easier. The only reason I see for doing it on ventrilo is if we are doing an auction type draft, but I'm almost certain that we will be using a serpentine draft for this league.

Anyway, to all those who are interested, please state your preferred day of the week and time for the live draft. Yahoo only has limited slots for each time, so the longer we take to decide, the fewer options we will have. Once the live draft time is agreed upon, it will not be changed so please let me know when you are most likely to be able to attend the draft. I have tentatively set the draft time for 9/1, Monday at 11PM EST. That is the last available date to conduct the draft.

Second issue is payment. I propose an entry fee of $100. It's a nice even number and anything less just makes the prize pool too pathetic. If everyone agrees to a higher amount, the I'm all for it but I think $100 should be the minimum starting point. Also, regarding safekeeping... as commish, I am willing to hold the money but if people prefer that it is escrowed somewhere else, then we need to find a willing and able party. FWIW, I've responsibly held for the LP.net baseball league for two years and I think I've built a pretty solid reputation here over the past several years. Regardless of who holds the money, one thing that is clear is that ALL entry fees must be collected before the start of the draft. I've played in countless fantasy leagues for almost 15 years now and I've seen so many problems when fees are not collected up front. Not only does it reduce the prize pool for the legit players, but more importantly, a player that does not pay is so much more likely to abandon the team. An abandoned team brings down the quality of the whole league.

Final issue is point system. Personally, I prefer a scoring system that weights yardage a bit heavier than in the "standard" system. With the "standard" system, a FB that gets 2 goalline carries and 2 TDs and 2 rushing yards gets more points than a RB that gets 35 carries and 120 rushing yards but no TDs. Of course I understand that value of getting the ball in the end zone, and I still believe that TDs are to get the highest value. But I think that yards should get a little more value. I think it reduces the luck factor by a small amount and is a more accurate representation of a player's true value in the actual game. I'll come up with a scoring system proposal by tomorrow and we can discuss this. Of course if the majority votes to keep the standard system, then we'll do so but I think it's definitely something worth discussing.

if you want to play, even if you're not 100% sure, at the very least tell me what time you want the draft. that way, I can reserve a good draft time now. The longer we wait the fewer options we have.

well everything is up for discussion right now.

but tentatively:

the buyin is set for $100, but could be higher if everyone agrees
scoring system is set to yahoo default which is pretty much the same system that 90%+ of the leagues use which is head to head with the last 2 weeks of the year for playoffs. Team defense and standard scoring. However, I made a suggestion about weighting the value of yardage a bit heavier. Again, we will go by majority on this issue.
