My friend's brother recently told me about this gem of a car. The specs he was telling we were absolutely mindboggling, but after checking out the youtube clips I was a believer. I was thinking about getting a Porsche 911 turbo for my next car, but this car is simply the all-around NUTS. Thoughts?

a "supercar" that can be delivered with a diesel engine simply isn't a supercar imo...
NICE TRY Audi is all i can say...
GTR>R8 any day, and if you want to pay more $$$, just buy an amuse/mine's GTR or the Vspec yO

Well , depends
imo the GTR looks very boring in the standart version.
It probably is far superior from its specs / price ratio
but it just doesnt look nice imo ( maybe that changes if u do lots of optical tuning)
btw there is also a 280.000€ MTM AUDI R8
with 880 hp ^^

u probably mess it up with the CarreraGT or the 911 GT2?
a 911Turbo with 480hp
is ~ 125.000 euro in germany
doubt its 4x the price in your country
also i dont think R8 looks ugly from back

GTR 0-60 in like 3.4 seconds I think. It's freaken ridiculous. Yes an Audi is an Audi, but Skyline has AWD and for half the cost, I'll take it.

If you are debating between 911t and GTR peachy you should get the best motoring international episode when they specifically compare both of them.
The big big big downside of the GTR is the freaking weight, that shit is heavier than a tank, i think its like 1700kg.. that is 400kg more than an Evo/Sti, reason why any modified Evo/Sti will easily rape the GTR.
In Best motoring the GTR was a bit faster than the 911t but they are extremely biased in favor of japanese cars.
Its not a bad choice at all, however if you can come up with more money def the R8 is a car in a whole new level.
PS: paddle shift is just lame and boring.

Well you could get a NISMO GTR but it would be righ handed drive and its much more costly but it comes with 700+hp etc etc.
i personally have my doubts about the new GTR... again, its 1700kg+ !!! that is HUGE, that is over twice what the lotus elise weights, it might make fast lap times but it looks like a sluggish car, and as a driver agility is a must.

It's not really in the 'tuner car' class. Of course any of the modified Japanese sports cars will stomp on it. The same argument can be made for almost any 'super' car, and you hear it every time they're brought up. You can take the money, buy a cheaper car, and spend the difference on modifying it etc etc who cares? If you just want the fastest car then sure, buy and modify an R34/Evo/STi/RX-7/etc. If you want a car with a bit more class than the 'rice-rockets' then the GTR is perfect.
That said, you can (and people have, ie Mine's) tune the R35 to compete with a higher class of car. I don't know why you'd want to though. The stock package is fine, unless you intend to break lap records. Nissan has done an amazing job of countering its weight, and if you watch any track videos by people like Edmunds you can see it's not sluggish at all. I agree that when I first heard about it I was like "What the fuck? That's ~300 kgs heavier than the Evo!" but it's really not as bad as you make it out to be.
Also, the price for the package is absolutely amazing, although I guess that doesn't matter much to a poker pro. I don't think there's ever been a supercar as cheap as 70k. It's only real competitor in terms of price-to-power is the 'vette. Plus, it looks fucking great. Buy a black one.

im not making the classic "this cheaper car modified would beat a ferrari" here... but well, a GTR its pretty much an Evo with steroids, but slower than an actual evo on steroids.
And i agree they have made a superb job countering its weight, its amazing a car of 1700kg handles that well... but still, its fucking 1700kg and no matter how many differential software you put on it it doesnt change the fact that you are applying much more lateral weight on corners and that it will brake poorly and will show signs of brake fade earlier than lighter cars.
The thing is, why on earth does a stupid 6cyl AWD car have to weight like a hummer? its like they try their best to make it heavier, shave 300kg of it and then it would be an amazing car.

Then buy the GTR V-Spec!
It's allmost 200kg lighter than the GTR and has 530 horsepower instead of 480!

Those who patiently wait out the first year of Nissan GT-R production to avoid the hassle of dealer markups or some of the bugs that come with a new car, you may make off with a better performing model. Nissan plans on bringing a V-Spec, meaning victory specification, version of the GT-R to market after the first year of sales. While V-Spec versions of previous GT-R generations did not receive power upgrades, that won't be true for the R35. Base output will be bumped from 480hp to 550hp through an increase in boost pressure. On top of that 150 kg (331 lbs) will be shed from the frame. Also, as typical with Nissan's race inspired trim levels, the V-Spec will include a more aggressive aero package. The goal for the car is to achieve a lap time at the Nurburgring of less than 7 minutes and 25 seconds -- 18 seconds ahead of the standard GT-R. It may take more than increased power, reduced weight and increased down force to achieve the feat. Therefore, it would not be out of the question for a V-Spec model to feature revised differential controls, wider wheels and tires and even a brake upgrade.
Vital statistics:
+70 horsepower due to increased boost
-150 kilograms
More aggressive (what the fuck does that entail) aero package
An improvement of 18 seconds on the 'ring.
If they really go through with that it would be amazing. That'd bring it down to 1550 kilograms which is acceptable by any measure of the word when you take into account the fact that the previous GTRs were 1450-1550 kgs as well, and look at how they performed. The only real downside for a driving enthusiast is that it's likely to cost 10-20k more. If past experiences are anything to go by, the regular GTR will be a daily-driven supercar with enough power to have fun. The V-Spec will be the "driver's car". It'd also solve the aforementioned weight problem.
Oh, and I'm reeeeeaaaaaal curious as to how the GTR will do in the SuperGT 500-hp class. There have been spy shots of it in race livery already. I'm also kinda curious as to how the GTR is gonna affect the release of Honda/Toyota's supercars in the works.. but that's another topic.
