wanted to signup at CR, but:

Troubleshooting Tips, point 2. of their FAQ web says: "WMP11 is the only cardrunners.com supported media player and is required to view CardRunners.com videos."

fuckme? i mean wmp11 is XP only, so w2k users who cannot go beyond WMP9 are screwed? someone point me in the right direction here, cuz i just cant believe that this would be an XP only product. ??

You should contact them directly to ask this question.
Anyway, the streamings videos are not DRM protected and can be watched with anything I guess. They are also available in Flash. I also had no problem viewing the downloaded videos with WMP9.

PS : if it wasn't for some compatibility problems, I'd so be running win2k as well

I watch videos with flash player if online.

You can choose to believe what I wrote or not, but it still will be correct.

you seem to be pretty certain. if i sign up and cant stream any videos cuz of the WMP issue, will you refund my signup?

Catul   France. May 11 2008 10:18. Posts 1460

I am certain. I will not refund your signup. And the first part of my post was "You should contact them directly to ask this question.", because THEY would refund you if it doesn't work.

you cant post there unless ur a paying member obv

chipsOwner   Czech Republic. May 13 2008 10:28. Posts 529

anyway, their tech support just mailed me:

So long as you have Adobe Flash installed, you can stream all the videos on any operating system (Mac, Linux, Win2k, etc). You only need WMP11 to watch downloaded videos. If you're still unsure, I would highly recommend trying out the 24 hour day pass and if you decide to upgrade to a gold membership, the day pass fee will be credited towards it.

sounds fair enough, gonna signup asap

did you managed to have CR work with vlc? i can stream all the videos with flash but some of them are rather slow, so vlc would be faster since its cpu consumption is lower. their "tech support" told me its not possible but obv i managed to get their videos working with vlc, unfortunately without playback support (cant pause videos etc). anyone found a work-around for this?
