yeah I feel pretty bad too for not believing him at first. Well I did believe him after thinking about it for a while because I know Simon pretty well but still couldn't see me sending him any money. I still don't know if I made the right decision in not sending him(well the people holding him captive) anything though. Simon will probably be quite frustrated with all the negative posts people made about him because of this... I wouldn't be surprised at all if he stopped posting on liquidpoker :/

Agreed. I really thought it had to be someone impersonating him and trying to scam. It's pretty terrifying to find out that this was real. I wonder how it all came about and why these guys chose him, how they picked him, how they caught him and all that. Just scary to think of. I really hope he's ok and that he comes back to LP when he's better. He will probably be pretty pissed at some of the people and comments made, but I think now that the truth is out he will find everyone here wanting to do all we can to support him.

Its in polish, from the most respected polish newspaper.

Even Soah's father asked to keep this private it finally hit newspapers and leaked into public, so I guess there is nothing bad if I make a small english summary ( if anyone is agaist, just pm me and I will delete it ):
Basically, Soah came to Poland to meet with his friend, and they were invited to some private poker game. However, they both(at least it looked like - read to the end) were kidnapped and held captive by one of the guy who was supossed to organise that event. As kidnappers realised polish guy cant give them $20k they asked for they let him free, and from that moment there was no info about Soah.
So polish police got some info, and they used brute-force to break into Soah friends place, he gave them information about whole situation and said what happened earlier.
Next day, in other city ( Warsaw ) police knew already who was the main guy behind all this, they ambushed him on street and arrested him.

Whats quite surprising is that... it looks like Soahs "friend" was involved in this crap as well, and will be charged of kidnapping as well.

its all very crazy. I wouldnt really fault you for not believing him though, if you hang around poker forums long enough it sort of kills your trust towards anyone when money is involved. Its really ugly but thats just the way it works.

So alot of people were posting shit about sOah without reason, which sort of pissed me off. Well, the thing is that low morale stuff is happening pretty often in Poland ( this post hit exact same day as "I cant get my loans paid back" post on polish forums so my personal feelings are somehow accelerated ), and especially when latetly I started travelling around Europe much more ( EPT ) I see an insane difference in peoples mentality and personal culture ;/

Seriously, watching Your back every single time You are coming home ( even at day ) feels so uncomfortable, and knowing that You cant really self defend ( neither count on other people ) in case of emergency, since law is really messed up makes me want to move out as soon as possible ;/
For example, my friend ( he's 18 ) was being robbed on as street by two guys in the middle of the day, and three students decided to help him ( unusual huh ) and in the end it came to a fight. 4 vs 2, robbers obviously didint stand much chance - however, police charged those 3 guys who helped my friend with beating, since it wasnt them who was under risk and pressure. How sick is that?

As people have said. There's a difference between trust and $50k trust. That and his inability to go to his father with it and willingness to accept smaller amounts were suspicious. I doubt he'll blame you for the way you reacted.
