I don't think the black part is that big of an issue in this day in age. However this war on terror has a large % of Americans thinking every last Muslim is a sleep cell bomber.

We have now sunk to a depth at which restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men.

1-The only solution to Iraq is splitting the country in three. There is no way in hell kurds, shiites and sunnies will live together in harmony in the same country. ( See ex-Yugoslavia for reference to what will happen ) Oh i forgot, theres another solution also. Get the most ruthless Sadam era army general and make him a dictator, which is not a realistic option.

3-This doesnt make sense. Israel doesnt need its nukes when it comes to war with the arabs. It only took them 6 days to basically destroy all their neighbors armies. Plus the arabs have too many problems with each other to unite and create a real threat to Israel. Plus Pakistan has nukes of its own leading to a "Cold War" type conflict if anything.

4-Arafat did refuse the Camp David proposal, which was a huge mistake since he would have basically gotten Gaza and most of West Bank except for a part of Jerusalem. Thinking that the muslim world hates the US just to create "false tensions" is plain ridiculous imo. They have been killing americans for the last 40 years, coincidentally since Israel annihilated them in the 6 day war with US weapons and cash. Also dont forget the US made Israel a nuclear power so they obv feel threatened by that. Remember what happened when the Soviet Union planted nuclear missles in Cuba ?

1- The main problem with this idea is the fierce resistance from Turkey who is an important ally in the region. It seems at first glance to be best but the result will be revolt in Turkey from the Kurds and a close alliance between Iran and the southern (Shi'ite) province which has most of the oil; both of these are very negative results from our view.

3- I think that the reason we support Israel AT THIS POINT is so that we still have a voice in their decision making process and can serve to restrain the more radical factions within the military/government. Imagine if Israel was left to its own devices and began acting as belligerently as some of the Arab states. Do you think Musharaf and the Israelis have the restraint to make it out of a Cold War scenario? I don't want to find out, and Israel has shown willingness to preemptive strike when it destroyed Iraq's nuclear plant (forget the name) so I wouldn't be surprised if it did the same to Iran which would be just what was needed to unite the disparate Arab nations. I would like us to leave Israel to its own devices and completely pull out of the region but I think it is too dangerous to do so in this era with tensions so ridiculously high, plus I think it might be too late for that to be the simple answer to repairing our relations with the Muslim world.

4- I didn't say the Muslim world hates us to create false tensions I said they let the Palestinians suffer to inflame those tensions which seems pretty obvious to me maybe you disagree.

In Obama's cause I just don't think the USA is ready for a Muslim president.

the other day I heard a woman call in to C-SPAN to say that she doesn't want Obama running the country because he's Muslim, the host corrected her and said his father was but he isn't, she said "well he has his father's Muslim blood in his veins" LOL.....

....wait that's not funny, that woman gets to vote for MY President, fuck

His father and his step dad were both Muslims, he went to a Muslim religious school in Indonesia for 6years.(Yes he also went to a Catholic school for 2years.) He was Muslim till the day he decided to get into politics. Just because he joined a "Christian Church nearly 4years ago" doesn't change that he was born and raised a Muslim, and that how people see it.

Muslim or not, he's still just as bad as the Neo Cons running this country in his views, and it's not like the president runs the country anyways.

I wouldn't mind him, I like him far more then the ugly bitch. I'd prefer the old dude though. Anyone who has ever seen a Die Hard movie has to vote for the McCain-dude.

first of all I went to Catholic schools for 12 years and am in no way shape or form Catholic now nor could I really be considered Catholic while in high school, I just happened to go to school there, so where he went to school really has no bearing

second, I cannot swear to this because I haven't read his autobiography myself, but I am pretty positive that he was NOT raised Muslim nor was he at any point in his adult life a self-declared or practicing Muslim, I think that is a myth concocted by his detractors

third, how to do you figure his policies are at all similar to the neocons? out of curiosity what do you consider yourself politically?

You don't inherit religion. And by all accounts his father wasn't particularly useful anyways. And he went to a public school in Indonesia - not a Islamic school. Indonesia is a Muslim country, but it is also a multicultural Southeast Asian nation. You shouldn't spread misinformation you don't know about.

If anyone is gonna get the poker law changed, it'll be him.

Go Barack!

Well said. as far as what that guys saying about him being a muslim, this is the exact type of thing that pisses me off. I've no problem with someone disliking obama for real policy issues (like they think staying in Iraq is right so they dislike obama - I I disagree but at least they're making a stand on what they think is the best policy) but when people just bring up ridiculous BS like this as a reason I wanna smack them for their idiocy.

btw, he grew up in a secular househould and became a christian by choice in the 80's. Not 4 years ago.

About Iraq.

I have a hard time figuring out why Americans or anybody for that matter except Iraqis would give a flying fuck about what happens to Iraq if we pull out.

Americans fucked up big time in Iraq, why the hell do they need to make it even worse by "pretending" they care about what happens if they pull out and meanwhile staying put?

PULL OUT.

God damn that retarded gorilla monkey that Americans call their Commander in Chief is such a big fuck up it's unbelievable. I've been calling him a fuck up for 9 years now and only now do a certain number of people realize it, 9 years too late.

wow youve been saying it for so long. you're so smart. teach us please

and just because you dont care about the insane amount of iraqis that would die and the instability that would come from yet another overthrow in that country doesnt mean we all dont you insensitive prick.

nolan   Ireland. Feb 24 2008 09:54. Posts 6205

we're never leaving iraq.

there is no intention in leaving.

every US and UK corporation there is there with indefinite contracts. when the US invaded they knew before the first soldier landed that they would be there until further notice. there will be no exit strategy as long as shareholders profiting from the war are in politics.

it's just common sense skotty poo
