I go to log onto my full tilt poker account just now after not logging in for 3-4 days. I gives me a "waiting for permission" screen then a random 600 fpp point tourney table pops up im all in with 6-3 off or something. My account balance is 1 cent. Someone has been playing on and trashing my account without my knowledge. I emailed full tilt. Do i have any chance of recovering funds or ANYTHING? I'm so phazed.

Depends if the money was lost "legimately" or was obvious chip dumping I THINK...

fuck I should just sell some of my Pokemon cards, if no one stakes that is what I will have to do - lostaccount

I requested hand histories to find out and i know none of the money was player transfered. I don't see why someone would hack an account to play seriously and my acct is busted so its not like they played well. when i tried to log into my acct some1 was shoving every hand of a fpp tourney.

Yeah its only fair for them to take money off non-legitimate players so only in cases of chipdumping

Wow what the fuck this is sick?

How the hell does this happen? Individuals can just hack your account, does it depend on how good your password is or computer security such as key loggers and what not?

Hope full tilt support can clear this up and hopefully you can save the majority of your br

Stay logged in all the time, never download shady ass programs or go to shady ass websites, virus check your pc every day, and make a hard password.

There, I just made your account 99.9999999999999999999999999999999% "hack proof".

unless it was blatantly dumped you wont get it back, and even if it was only small chance

try to keep your accounts logged in at all times/buy a computer to use only for poker

One other thing that is probably worth mentioning is no matter how good your poker p/w is you should probably take measure to prevent people from working around it. For example, If someone knows your e-mail address and clicks "forgot p/w" in FT, FT will easily send a new password to your e-mail address. If that other person can get into your e-mail address then its all over. So make sure security questions and passwords for e-mail are also secure.
Also a good idea to get a good personal security suite that includes a built in firewall along with virus scanners/identity and privacy protection/ e-mail and IM protection like McAfee. If your using a wireless router make sure its encrypted with passcodes.

Just do whats right

Little as in oh his my 22 year old younger brother or like 12 or something? And would your parents pay you/make him pay you back?

And as for staying logged in ALL the time, isn't that bad?

traxamillion   United States. Nov 19 2007 19:37. Posts 10468

He had my password because I let him play some FPP point tournies a while ago which I had forgot about. Apparently yesterday he got on my account just to mess around, got stuck, chased losses, busted the whole account. He doesn't really play cards so never had a chance but he didn't really know that. I was so pissed earlier I almost beat the shit out of him in front of my moms house but instead gave him 2 days to get my money back otherwise I am taking his computer and cell phone as collateral (was gonna stomp him and i probably would anyone else but he is my brother). It was only a couple hundred bucks so its not like i lost some irrecoverable amount of money. Pretty irresponsible for a 19 year old tho (i'm 22).

Full Tilt just sent me a notepad file of my last thousand hands but it is pretty hard to read as is. How can I import this into PT? just move the whole file into the c:/fulltilt/hh ?

Also I think a lot of the money was lost in tournies but they didn't send me those. Do i have to request them seperately?

Will post hands once i figure this out probably will be some funny stuff in there; might as well get a laugh out of it

when did i say any of this was standard. It is -50ptbb/100 poker. I am posting the hands because they are absurd. He is a play money player who got a hold of a real money account what do you expect. The one hand that i said was standard was when he got it ai pre with ak which is fine. Some hands I didn't post here were also okay. I'm just saying if he learned i think he could get decent.

Or he could just play tournies

oh wow, that's pretty immature and greedy of your brother to go into your account like that and try to play. Good for you for taking the high road though and not just beating the crap out of him. At first I thought your brother was like 15-17, I could see that happening but not at 19.

wait, one thread said that you SHOULDN'T stay logged in, but here u guys are saying to stay logged in... which is right and WHY?

Staying logged in at all times makes it impossible for hackers/anyone knowing your password to get into you r account. Also, this way you never type your password, so a keylogger is useless against you.

So this is what you should do if you're the only one with physical access to the computer.

But if your computer can be reached by someone else, obviously staying logged in/having your password stored is a much greater risk. So for most people, I think that staying logged in all the time would probably be riskier.

You have to strike fear in your little brother. I'd have no problems giving my brother my password because he knows whats in store if I'm down even 1 dollar.

Wouldnt fingerprints be almost as easy to record/forge/fake? Your computer doesnt read a fingerprint, it sees patterns and makes them into a file which would be easily grabbed from your pc or logged with rudimentary spyware

No real developments yet. Realistically he can't pay me back and I'm not going to beat his ass anymore. I am going over there tomorrow though to have some sort of discussion with him. Thing is if he was all defiant about it and had a bad attitude i would put him in check but he genuinely feels bad; I'm just going to make him pay me back in some way haven't really decided yet.

sorry to disappoint :/

This is a very good post. Certain loopholes can be a huge security breach.
