I just couldn't see him overbet jam any other hands but AQ. I would expect him to pot it as a bluff, or with a single Q. But what single Q? I'm not even sure if KQ/QJ are in his preflop range, and QJ would certainly bet the turn i think - KQ probably as well. Maybe QQ, but i dont think he would shove it.

Maybe its a bad fold I dunno, was very close to calling.

I told him my hand and he said good fold. I guess we'll never know if thats the truth.

I disagree I think this is a bad fold. In a 3b pot against the CO and you didn't 3b that big he certainly can have many Qs or just be bluffing.

You could be right.

But what type of hands would be peeling the flop, that are bluffing on later streets? I think most hands with some showdown value are going to check it down. I haven't played much with him before, so I don't think this player is going to randomly float me on the flop without history. He seemed like a 'reg', as far as I saw. I havent played these stakes much lately so I dont know the people well.

I think mostly if I call, I'm chopping or Im dead. With the overbet, I just think Im dead more often than chopping.

But please do enlighten me with any wisdom, it's been a while since I played.

Look if opponent is wild then it's clearly a call, but if you have a decent read on your opponent types then a lot of opponents this is basically always AQ because they (correctly) have deduced there is no reason to bet this large without AQ when there is a reasonable chance that their opponent could have AQ. And not even having Qx is also a crazy bluff because as we can see there are good players here in this thread advocating for a call with the K high straight.

this isn't even worth discussing without knowing opponent stats

I don't know if it's more often than not (though I would guess it probably is), but it certainly is often enough that against most opponents this is a clear fold.

This is all based on what type of regs he is / stats to fold here imo. If you have a read or stats that he is nitty I'm ok with folding. AJ AT could be turned into a bluff, you'll see aggressive regs push KJ, JJ here thinking you never check any Q and get you to hero call. Also some Qs(KQo-JQs-TQs-9Qs) . This isn't such a small pot either and if he is a reg you'll play alot against this isn't a bad spot to get a read on his overbet tendencies. Granted I could be wrong. If I fold I probably don't show him/tell him my hand, not sure I want him to know I'm making that fold.

I respectfully disagree, I feel like everything you are saying applies to a normal pot sized bet. But this bet is 220% pot and making this bet with KJ in an attempt for value makes no sense.

All good, I'm not that sure myself. Most of what I said applies to overbet to a smaller frequency, maybe KJ is far fetched. That mostly comes from aggressive regs tho. As a bluff alot of those hands probably want to bet big, prob not overbet but they might feel like it.

This is not a hard fold unless we know the villain is going out of line. You know you're only calling to split the pot.

How would you play the turn, without knowing the player much?
