Why is Shakespeare considered like some GOAT? What is so special about Hamlet and his overall body of work?
I get to watch Hamlet but it feels like a buncha limp-dicked thoughts from a dude who likes to wear dresses and a wig. I prefer answers from LP brethren obv

Because his use of the English language in his play writing is quite phenomenal if you study literature and word patterns. In the modern day, appreciation for literature and proper usage of the English language is dying off. Here is a decent post about why he's important.

there's no such thing as 'proper' or 'improper' use of language, except in the sense of a medical condition causing aphasia or some other language impediment, and any linguist with half a brain will tell you that. I still don't get why shakespheare is supposed to be the bomb either. I'm glad that science has triumped and grammar nazi's have been exposed for their ignorance.

Nope, the ban comes from USADA, which is the anti-doping agency for the USA.
Sports get regulated by a third party otherwise, the companies would hide tests, even if they were mandatory etc.... someone like JBJ banks in a lot of money for the UFC. That's where someone like USADA comes in to keep sports "clean" even though regulation against weed for example still blows my mind. I'm guessing that the only place he'd be allowed to fight is somewhere in Russia, as Russia doesn't give a shit about global doping policies.

Question #2: Can Jon Jones fight in other fighting leagues like bellator or strike force? Or is he banned everywhere?
lol way to derail the thread, not like there's an mma thread or anything...

Shakespeare is one area of ignorance I really did not bother to address. it feels pretentious and is really off putting to talk or rave about but yeah i think i need to read up on what this guy was really on about

are you actually gullible enough to believe that hollywood depiction of eng lit 101 is even remotely accurate or are you just posting it for no particular reason??

funnier to think that this rendition is possibly the only reason he's interested in Shakespeare now
fuck I should just sell some of my Pokemon cards, if no one stakes that is what I will have to do - lostaccount
i just found it entertaining, isnt it actually a good thing to be interested in shakespeare or will both of you choose to just mock me for doing so? Would be more helpful if both of you posted what you know instead right? I watched anonymous the movie 6 years ago and it was a good movie. this scene from the gambler(bad movie) reminded me again of it, that's all.
My daughter is also in school and wants to be a writer by the way, so I'm just trying to brush up on some simple knowledge to at least relate to what she's into.

I never like shakespeare at all until I randomly bumped into that declamation of Hamlet, do you seriously not like it? I'm not much into poetry at all but damn that touches some cords

i keep hearing its because of his use of the english language, that never was there any human who could express themselves as eloquently and exquisitely like him. then i read his stuff and i just dont understand what makes him different from everybody else during that time, more ignorance on my part than being critical really
