Im trying to bet the ggg fight, taking ggg side.

Not near vegas atm. Wondering if anyone can place bets for me on pinnacle or is interested in taking canelo side vig free. Not highstakes betting like 500-600.

I've always been somewhat anti-canelo and made an easy bet against him vs Mayweather but I think he is improving very fast and despise having a punching bag as opponent in his last fight I was impressed, on the other hand GGG looked really bad vs Brooks, I think the fight is dead even and possibly the bet should be on Canelo

hes just rly good and also likely to be the benefactor of any corrupt decisions

cant wait for that fight though

I'm going GGG here sans corrupt decision. Brooks was undefeated 36/25 by KO, even beat Porter on his way to fight GGG. Kell Brooks was a real threat and it showed, he's never been the same after that fight and got KO'ed by Spence after. Canelo has had some pretty close fights and lost to a much smaller Floyd, actually got schooled. He's also a bit too pudgy now which can affect his speed, he's obviously improved but I dont think it's enough to face a bigger, stronger guy who will walk him down 12 rounds.

No way ggg ko's canelo, he is too big and too good of a boxer. Ggg will mostly fight off the jab, and I expect Canelo to get the better of the inside exchanges. I got Canelo like 7-5 rounds. Should be fun!

I pick GGG to win, but I'm not super confident since it's boxing.

People have mentioned that Canelo waited until GGG got older, and finally took the fight when GGG started to look less dominant in his fights. It makes sense, and isn't anything new in boxing.

I think GGG is a far superior boxer, but have the feeling Canelo matches up really well with him and the fight is close to even.

I dont think so, I think Canelo management waited for him to mature more and it worked because Canelo is much better today than a couple of years ago

Baal do you have an idea about how the average mexican feels about canelo?

I mean do they like him and root for him or is it like mayweather where they watch him because they want to see him get beat?

I would be even more inclined to bet on canelo if people dislike him

Really? FAR superior?

I think u underrate canelo

he has better head movement and consistently blocks shots well where GGG seems to get hit often pointlessly (he claims its to entertain the audience... we'll find out I guess)

even when he does get hit I don't recall him ever being in serious trouble

the only area where I think canelo is far inferior is that his feet seem so slow

Well, far superior is relative. I think GGG would do much better against most common opponents, but instead of being ~70% like he should be based on their relative skills vs others, I think GGG is more like 55% here because Canelo matches up so well with him. All of Canelo's strengths -- defense, counters, body shots, inside work, power moving backwards -- match up well with GGG's aggressiveness and hittability. Further, Canelo's weaknesses: fighting shorter cause of more squared up stance, throws more hooks/less straight jabs and slow feet don't matter against someone coming forward.

I guess I do somewhat underrate Canelo cause I thought he lost both the Trout and Lara fights (havent rewatched in years though), don't take much away from his wins against the bums, and think Chavez/Cotto were very overrated, but the Khan win was great (even though Amir shouldnt have been fighting at 154). I also don't think GGG did nearly as bad vs Jacobs as most people do: and think the Jacobs that GGG fought would have beaten Canelo (bad matchup). But this is a different fight completely, so how I think of them vs others is irrelevant, just think Canelo matches up great vs GGG and considering betting him.

People know GGG was a silver medalist in the Olympics and can flat out out point someone in boxing, right? He only does it when there is someone with power he respects. He respected David Lemieux's power, he respected Jacob's power, and I think he will respect Canelo's power too. But I kinda get this feeling that Canelo will bait GGG into coming inside and Canelo will get some good counters. I highly doubt GGG comes forward with authority from the opening bell.

Also, can we all agree in a close fight the judges are probably going to lean towards giving the decision to Canelo? Not that I care, I like both, but it is what it is.

Also GGG's mom is half Korean, so he is more than 1/4 Korean, if anybody knew.

I don't know much about boxing I just feel like betting sports lately cause been winning / see what happens.

I think yea vs that Jacobs guy I don't see the big deal either. Seemed like it was a match up issue and Jacobs had considerable size/reach advantage/dropped down in weight.

I haven't bet anything so far i'll wait and see.

I like the thought that Canelo's strengths actually play well into this matchup. But then the other stuff, I'm on the other side in thinking you're underrating Canelo's rise and resume. That Austin Trout win was legit imo. I remember having $$ on Trout for that fight because I wasn't sold on Canelo and thinking Trout lost by at least a couple rounds on top of the legit knockdown of Trout. Some of the outrage came about because the judges were awful and just gave Canelo every close round (obv could be key in this GGG fight too) so people knew Trout never had a chance anyways. Should throw away any thoughts on the Lara fight. Or any Lara fight. Cotto is/has obviously been way past his prime for awhile now but I'd never call him overrated in general. And his only losses even after his prime expired is still to just Canelo, Floyd and Trout. And a little odd that the Khan fight is the one to stands out as a great win. It was a great, great KO. Almost wondered if Khan was dead on the floor. Wouldn't ever classify it as a great fight or win though. Khan got starched like that against 140lbers. Canelo is a dense 154 and Khan came up to him

I'm going to be betting on GGG. Always was going to. Guy has been an absolute monster and has been waiting for an opportunity like this all his life. But there's definitely a lot of truth to things having lined up great for Canelo with the timing of this. Canelo delaying this fight over the last couple years is giving him the best chance. Combination of him being given time to improve more and enter his absolute prime at the same time that GGG is exiting his prime. I think it's going to be real competitive early with Canelo's speed advantage showing but GGG's underrated jab and constant walk forward pressure is eventually going to open Canelo up to being broken down late, rds 9-11.

Judges though. They love them some Canelo. One even gave Canelo 5 rounds in the Mayweather fight where Canelo may have landed 5 total punches in the entire fight. If Canelo can bank a cpl early rounds then use some of his inside fighting to hold off GGG in the middle rounds while scoring some of his flashy shots here and there, well...there could be a random score of 117-111 for Canelo in a fairly even, by rounds, fight

guys betting on GGG are also forgetting judges will very likely lean towards Canelo in general, so he probably would lose a close fight

I don't think judges will leqn toward either guy in this fight.

The fight is in Las Vegas.

What's that even supposed to mean? Robberies happen in Vegas all the time. Much like any other place. Texas is consistently worse but besides there, Vegas is no better or worse than any other place

114-114 in the Canelo/Mayweather fight that happened in Vegas. Where it was tough for me to score more than 2 rounds to Canelo and I was really biased against Mayweather. More recently, Kovalev-Ward 1 happened in Vegas

And for as well traveled as GGG is, this is his first ever fight in Vegas. It would be a near shock to me if the judges weren't at least a little biased for Canelo. Hopefully, GGG won't need them

I think it is a given that judges are going to be favoring Canelo. We have seen it already a couple times with Trout and Lara, as well the lopsided scores vs Cotto and the comical draw score vs Mayweather. If I am betting Golovkin I will be worried going into the scorecards even if he beats Canelo decisively.

As for the fight I think GGG is too big and too good for Alvarez. I think he is going to walk through him, hurt him at some point and finish him in the later rounds. Whatever happens this fight will be amazing.
