So like most of you I spend like 10hrs a day in my computer chair, I bought a new one and oh god it was so painful my legs still hurts the next day of using it so im trying to return it.

I've seen many of those "mesh" chairs that dont even have headrests like:

I dont feel back pain, its usually the butt what suffers the most so I'm not sure those high-end chairs would work for me but I've never tried them, any input?

Are they really more comfortable for long hours than the thick padded "executive" chair type I've been using?

Those big comfy chairs are a waste of money.

Go with one of the lighter chairs that is naturally comfortable and isn't full of padding.

i got a mesh style herman miller (aeron). it ran me like 1-1.2k iirc, have had it for >5 years now and got nothing but good things to say. for me the mesh is nice cause it breathes a lot of air (i dont really blast AC during the day so if you live in a place that is hot that's nice), but it also seems to conform to the shape of your back better.

mine doesnt have the head rest, but im quite tall and prefer not to have them fwiw. when i ordered it, i did it thru some place in vegas that specialized in baller chairs and it was somewhat customized to my height/weight, you can do this also ordering online. headrest is also an option you can add if you like that.

my only regret was getting the leather armpads, i think the regular ones (i believe they're a foam type material) might last longer. mine have a few cracks, probably because i didn't take good enough care of them but something to keep in mind.

all in all though, definitely worth the expenditure. i think of it like a bed, you spend a shitload of your life in it so you should go top quality if possible.

Try a standing/treadmill desk. You can build your own for pretty cheap. If money's not an issue, some nice ones can be adjusted on the fly between sitting and standing. No doubt a better investment than the comfiest of chairs. If you can't do that, then at least take frequent breaks to move around for a few mins.

Many people have told me that but my skeptical nature gets the best of me and I cant help to think its chair snobbery, I NEED to try one.

Well the thing is that my back doesnt get tired, after a lot of use the padding of the seat collapses and my butt starts hurting, so those fancy mesh chairs all seem to have a tiny cushion this concerns me since as I said, the butt is the issue not the back.

Yeah I'm aware of them and im strongly considering them, but my current chair is too worn, the cushion is gone and the faux leather is peeling off the armrests so I need a new chair regardless

I think the only answer is to actually try an actual high-quality chair like Herman Miller and see it for myself

I wrote a blog on it some time ago on LP: Perfect poker setup: chair

I'm using Herman Miller Embody myself for like 3-4 years now, would recommend. Aeron has a new version now, Mirra is good as well (if we talking Herman Miller). Besides that there are few good options as well, and not that expensive.

However my best recommendation: go sit in the chair yourself if you have the option, then buy it

And yeah, MESH > Leather /material ALL DAY LONG. Comfort (especially when it comes to ventilation when its hot) is way superior.

Well, people did ;p

I moved like 10 players from lp.net to PartyPoker this month, you now get weekly rb up to 40% + 10% extra for VIPS and extra priv liquidpoker offer: check LiquidPoker priv offer here. So yeah, ppl are running from PS, all I can say.

And they know it. PokerStars offered a promotional cut % for 3 months to affiliates. This is the first promo for affiliates they offered since 4-5 years, so you can see they know what's going on.

Whats so surprising about using an arm chair? something wrong with that? lol.

It's like this one but less fancy and wider arm rests. living life in comfort is fun.

@OP: I use the most simple chair type (like this one) without any extras - this is best for your back long term.

Got herman miller aeron from my wife for my bday in 2010. Still in great shape and its like a hammock for my but and back. Never get any pain and very comfy. Not snobbery chair just really nice

Or you can put a Recaro bucket seat on wheels and you'll be in your element

Thats why I've always laughed at those idiotic "Gamer chairs" mimicing racing seats, they even have the holes for the belts lol, racing seats are quite uncomfortable since are designed to hold you in place not massage your butt.

It's not really true that sitting upright will be better long term. What matters most is not being in the same position too long.

There are some nice videos about how to sit properly on a chair. It's good you see them before buying one. Feeling comfortable does not mean you are doing the best for your back.

Check herman Millers Embody then. It's flexible and the whole idea is for the chair to move with you.

This is what I bought recently. Changed a couple things since I took that pic. Added a second keyboard/mouse at the top since I'm pretty tall and the Tao Te Ching was replaced by some black wooden blocks to get my keyboard leveled with the mousepad . Also have an anti fatigue mat I walk on. It takes about 5 seconds to adjust between sitting and standing.
