- Felipe Arantes was expected to face Iuri Alcantara at the event. However on May 11, Arantes was pulled from the fight due to undisclosed reasons and was replaced by promotional newcomer Brian Kelleher on the same day.

Holloway is the worst possible match up for Aldo. I think he is going to put a beating on him. Big bet incoming on Max.

I have Aldo at -137 and Gadelha -280 here.
Aldo is too good I am shocked at -137. I love Holloway as well though. What a fight.

Holloway by 4th or 5th round KO/TKO. Think he's going to be able to physically impose himself on Aldo
Really too bad KK vs Gadelha isn't 5 rounds. Would be great value on KK if that were the case
Think Belfort gets it done. Then goes to Bellator to fight Tito and Chael

If Max wins he is a god. I would start lobbying for him to fight McGregor again then. Still believe in Aldo though his last performance vs. Edgar was pretty nuts.
Aldo is a monster his only loss in like eleven years was vs Mcgregor and he fought like an idiot, Hollaway is really good but I think he is not the no1 IMO mendes and Edgar could take him, I think Aldo by decision. A lot of people thought Edgar would win in UFC 200 and Aldo fought really good and smart.
My bets:
- Aldo + gadelha (2.48) 20 bucks to win 49.6
- Assuncao (2.5) 20 bucks to win 50

Marco Beltran is dropping from 135 to 125 for this fight. He was already considered a tall + long 135`er. His opponent is a Brazilian making his UFC debut in Brazil.

My opinion on Holloway vs Aldo:
#1 It will probably stay standing.
#2 I don't think its likely for either guy to get a KO before the late rounds. Holloway seems like one of the hardest guy to finish ever , and he doesn't have the KO power to stop Aldo imo.
I think the standup will be competitive, but potentially be a let down. I don't believe it will turn into a brawl or anything like that, probably technical stuff.
Now on who wins... its a bit hard to say. The last Aldo we saw was absolutly amazing, and i do think this Aldo will show up.
But Holloway will have height/reach advantage, youth, and is a really tough mother fucker with tons of heart, and we aren't exactly sure yet how good he really is.
At current odds, even odds, i would personally bet on Aldo, but i don't really think its an easy bet at all.

I completely switched to Aldo after hearing it was in Rio De Janeiro..
I think Max Holloway will have a very hard time winning, basically has to dominate Aldo in Brazil to win.

If any of you are interested in betting the Aldo vs. Holloway fight, I'll take Holloway.
My terms:
• $50
• You take Aldo, I take Holloway
• Even odds (+100/+100) with a twist: I give you +100 on Aldo, but if Holloway loses by split-decision, our bet is a push/cancelled. All other methods of victory will be normal/standard
• Money sent via PayPal
• I'm only making 1 bet, and the person who accepts my bet needs to be a LP.net regular, not a new person

The thing about Aldo is that his style is just perfect for facing wrestlers/grapplers.
Also he is usually the bigger guy in the cage, giving him the ability to control the fight with his jab/leg kicks. Combine that with his insane takedown defence and athleticism he is just a nightmare for this stocky short wrestlers that he has made a career of beating up.
Everytime he has faced a striking based opponent though he has looked less than stellar. He was getting outboxed in many exchanges by Hominick , had to resort to his takedowns against Korean Zombie and even then looked bad in this fight before Zombie disclocated his shoulder and then He got KO'd stiff by Conor in 13 seconds.
Holloway has been on a really impressive run and has been improving constantly every fight. In his last fights he has looked like a killer against some tough opposition. But even that aside he is just a terrible match up for Aldo, just like Mcgregor is. Tall, rangy and diverse striker with decent ground game. I see him overhelming Aldo with his pressure and volume at some point and putting a beating on him en route to decision or late stoppage.

Didn't Aldo break something in the KZ fight? IIRC he turned into wrestler-Aldo because of a broken hand or something like that...?
Hominick fight was so long ago but only part I remember him doing poorly was in the last round (even though Hominick's face looked like he'd been stung by the worlds biggest bee at that point as far as I can remember). Wasn't he quite sick for that fight as well?
Don't mean to be making excuses because I don't necessarily disagree with your overall point, just some details.

It was Korean Zombie who dislocated his shoulder when throwing a punch, which allowed Aldo to get the finish once he saw KZ holding his own arm.
Aside from the KZ injury, Aldo hasn't won ITD since nearly 5.5 years ago, and only one true finish in the last 6.5 years (against Chad Mendes). Even the Mendes finish was interesting, as there was like 10 seconds left in the round and he turned around real fast and ran into a knee. Most guys back up and separate themselves nowadays when they're in the same spot Mendes was in.

That's how he always looks when he gets knocked down. Luan Chagas knocked him down twice in their fight, and Silva looked stunned before recovering.
Surprised that referee stopped it that early, especially in Brazil. He probably isn't aware of Silva being easy to KD, but also being able to recover just fine.

wtf was I thinking as soon as I saw Hollowen opening his arms taunting Aldo I was like shit... Aldo is going to get sucked into a high paced striking fight and is going to collapse.
All these years I've thought that Aldo not throwing kicks vs wrestlers was somewhat an excuse and he simply doesnt throw them anymore he convinced himself he is a counterpunching boxer with good takedown defense and he isnt

I was looking at that as well.
Max did it so much that I was able to pay attention and noticed they were soft punches, if that. Maybe to get Aldo to keep moving his face to the right side where Max's power was going to. Max wasn't winding up and landing to the back of his head, so maybe that was why Big John didn't say anything, dunno.
Either way, it doesn't take away from Max's victory, at least not in my opinion. He was going to keep bringing the heat and Aldo was low on energy after all that ground work.

To be fair he was pretty aggressive in this fight. I can't believe Max shrugged off that first round Combo + knee so easily. That finishes anyone else at FW imo besides maybe Frankie and Holloway wasn't even phased.
One of the best chins ever. In his first fight with Conor, Conor landed some beautiful left hands that Holloway also just shrugged off like nothing. And that was before Conor hurt his ACL.
I was rooting for Aldo simply because I really wanted to see Aldo move up to 155 and fight Ferguson for interim and hopefully winner fight Conor.

More aggresive than his usual but still no kicks he threw one, ate a punch that was still less damaging than the kick and never did it again and gassed so fast, I think Aldo is just done and in steep physical decline

If I were a fighter and wanted to play it smart i'd want a slower buildup to a conor match rather than rush into it, lesser upside in your career and pocket. Ferguson is playing it very well, he knows if he keeps fighting other guys and beating them hes in for a potentially bigger payday than even Nate

It was his first time judging MMA, and he scored 2 fights on the UFC 212 card. Both fights had controversial decisions and Iorio is the judge who decided to give the win to the fighter who most people thought lost the fight.
