Also why did Mccarthy allow Holloway to punch him in the back of the head when he had his back just before the stoppage? |
I was looking at that as well.
Max did it so much that I was able to pay attention and noticed they were soft punches, if that. Maybe to get Aldo to keep moving his face to the right side where Max's power was going to. Max wasn't winding up and landing to the back of his head, so maybe that was why Big John didn't say anything, dunno.
Either way, it doesn't take away from Max's victory, at least not in my opinion. He was going to keep bringing the heat and Aldo was low on energy after all that ground work.

Oh yeah if anything it saved Aldo more punishment, he clearly was too tired and he was going to get mauled |

Holloway is an absolute monster. I'd love to see the Conor rematch, shame it'll never happen.
Frankie vs Holloway will be dope. |

I'm actually happy to see Aldo lose the belt again, he went from being an fun and aggro leg kicker to a boring defensive fighter who cruised to decisions and for some reason never kicked again. |

I have no idea why I feel so god damn horrible when Aldo loses but it just makes me depressed. |

To be fair he was pretty aggressive in this fight. I can't believe Max shrugged off that first round Combo + knee so easily. That finishes anyone else at FW imo besides maybe Frankie and Holloway wasn't even phased.
One of the best chins ever. In his first fight with Conor, Conor landed some beautiful left hands that Holloway also just shrugged off like nothing. And that was before Conor hurt his ACL.
I was rooting for Aldo simply because I really wanted to see Aldo move up to 155 and fight Ferguson for interim and hopefully winner fight Conor. |

More aggresive than his usual but still no kicks he threw one, ate a punch that was still less damaging than the kick and never did it again and gassed so fast, I think Aldo is just done and in steep physical decline |

holloway can take a punch like a champ, conor couldn't KO the guy but he clearly put the fear in his eyes to this day beating him up on one leg (hurt his knee in round 2). in interviews he's not even remotely excited with asking for a rematch lol
i like him for his honesty really |

Yea I'm sure he's so fearful of that potential 10x career best payday that would come with fighting Conor |

If I were a fighter and wanted to play it smart i'd want a slower buildup to a conor match rather than rush into it, lesser upside in your career and pocket. Ferguson is playing it very well, he knows if he keeps fighting other guys and beating them hes in for a potentially bigger payday than even Nate |

If the fight vs Mayweather materializes he is only going to take superfights at the weightclass he wants so indeed the best way to fight him is to actually become a legend yourself |
