I'm cross country skiing as much as I can :D

55 kilometers in the past 3 days! if the snow doesn't thaw I'm gonna try to hit 500 this winter. (450 most I've gotten to)
It's a ridiculously good workout, pretty much my favorite activity.

I would love to cross country ski but no snow. It is still too cold to do anything outside. Pretty shitty. I might be moving to a place I can at least take walks on the beach just about everyday in the winter. I miss the nature walks. Nature cross country skiing would be even better. How easy is it to get a visa and job in Norway?

How do the Japanese exercise and move around?

I was just thinking I probably should be playing tennis on clay courts and doing yoga. Oh, I just remember I have the number of a movement guy in my city. Ido Portal and float tanks baby. I could take up dance. I really do miss the brisk nature walks though or even better climbing a mountain. There is nothing like waking up at dawn to watch the sunset and spending half the day getting to the peak of the mountain for a magical period of time and descaling down as the sun follows.

I've turned into a fat fuck since 2010, quitting poker + depression, lost a bit of weight then starting to get heavy again but not as bad as 2010 minus the depression which is great. Maybe I'll try walking first and light weights, switch to ecigs again, quit drinking every other day and dont miss it really. im already turning 44 and can die anytime lol

So, I am in the gym deadlifting listening to Katy B lifting relatively no weight but it does not matter because it is still getting me high. A cure for depression for sure.

I still have dreams of moving to Argentina or Chile and hitting the clay courts and the Andes Mountains all day. Coca leaves for the win.

What is it about the gym though? All these women wearing so little doing strenuous exercise. I think the pheromones just cloud up the place. Some girl working out her ass or has a sweaty vagina up all in the place. I know it has been shown in studies that men that have sex have increased testosterone. There has got to be something to be said for wading through pheromone vapors of some women working it out wearing next to nothing to go do some deadlifts.

whamm!, walking is awesome! Also, my friend who was one of the most prolific smokers I have ever known is almost off his vaporizer. Started on the vaporizer at cigarette nicotine level and is now down to 1mg. If he can do it anyone can. I quit drinking entirely and while I miss some of the social aspects of it it's not a big deal. If you can handle your drink though why stop? I am not a doctor but I always thought quality social drinking it all kind of balanced out. Of course, I took it to the next level and my liver was pretty fucked but thankfully I got out when I did and livers regenerate.

This is my current workout. Usually I am half assing the last few exercises. I want to get down to about 190 (currently 205). My diet is currently pretty decent but its the reason I am overweight. Love eating yummy food, good burgers/fries, all you can eat sushi. Fancier restaurants are fun to check out too. Cafe rio is my downfall if anyone has ever been there, kinda like a chipotle style restaurant but more mexican?

I train on my own a lot of the workout is with a heavy bag, in the past I had smaller 14oz gloves and my knuckles hurted (the joints) so I wrapped them heavily, so I bough some top end 16oz gel gloves and now I can punch full power but my right wrist hurt despise the fact I use most of my wrapping around my wrist.

I have naturally very thin wrists, anybody with a lot of mma/boxing backgrounds that can give some tips to avoid this?.

I'm 1.83cm tall and weight 80kg fwiw.

What I've come to realize is that it's more optimal and enjoyable to do less volume (volume = reps x sets x resistance kg/lbs) and higher frequency (frequency meaning how frequently you train each muscle group, daily, twice a week, three times per week, etc.).

When I was younger I approached fitness with the bodybuilding philosophy for the first few years which entailed training to failure, isolating muscle groups, and doing so much volume per day that a muscle group would almost be sore for a whole week. Nowadays I've come to do a hybrid of bodybuilding and power lifting.

IMO in order of importance I would work one these exercises for overall strength, maintaining function, and muscle building;
1. squats
2. deadlifts
3. overhead press
4. pull ups
5. bench press
6. row
7. dips
8. and then you can throw in stuff like hanging leg raises, lunges, planks, etc.

To keep a high metabolic rate throughout the week, it's better to do these things instead of running, unless you enjoy running then by all means;
- sled pushes/pulls
- short sprints of 20-30 seconds at maximum effort (on a track or field)
- tire flips
- light - moderate weight lifting circuits involving things like power cleans, push presses, etc.
- burpees

I myself try to squat 2-3 times per week at a moderate weight, I'll bench, overhead press, and do pull ups around 3-4 times per week, I'll deadlift 1-2 times per week, I'm still a bro so I'll do my curls and what not, for burning extra calories and for the sake of recovery I'll do high intensity intervals on an eliptical machine doing 7 rounds of 30 second sprints divided by 60 seconds of going slow about 3-4 times in a week.

im big on a natural bodyweight kick.

outside of squats/deadlift and lat pulldowns been trying to do only pushups/pullups/dips/leg lifts etc. with natural weight, and tie weights to myself on easier things like dips

i kinda look at all PT / bodybuilding advice with a lot of skepticism though, it seems like certain things work better for certain people and genetics plays a huge role.

the only real good advice is just to get out there and do something, worry about the details once you've established a disciplined routine.

I kinda look at all PT / bodybuilding advice with a lot of skepticism too. Genetics plays a huge role regardless of what people want to say. Although, I have found for me the most important aspect of any training is am I going to get in there and train. Usually the simpler the better. Give me some core exercises and let me do some sets of 6 to 12 reps or so and that kept me coming back and gets me results. I used to get really concerned about all the genetics aspects but man, if the workouts are getting any results and promoting some good strength and some symmetry and GETTING ME FEELING GOOD the rest just does not matter. I don't need to have 8 pack abs or whatever inch arms. I just want my clothes to fit and to look good enough in the nude and be in good enough shape and to feel good and energized. I remember when I used to chase programs and all sorts of different supplements to look like someone who trained full time for a movie or was on dialed in cycles of steroids. Trying to keep up with the "cutting edge" training. The "cutting edge" supplements. I don't know where I am going with this, I just started rambling on my experience. From my perspective the best bet for anyone is to find something that works for them and do that. Stay away from all the marketing bullshit. A good personal trainer could probably help with all of those things. A bad personal trainer is obviously a waste of time and money. Damn, I wish I was down in Chile playing some tennis and climbing some mountains. If I drank again it might be on some bife de lomo con malbec.

Last year I only focused on cardio and started running. In my peak I was running 4 times a week, but I try to at least get 2-3 runs in per week, any where from 5km - 10km.

The only that kept me at it, was runkeeper. Being able to see my splits, and increases. I started my 5km at 6.01min/km and went to 4.39min/km in about 6 months, and lost 40lbs thanks to running. During weekdays I would have a strict calorie intake, and not surpass 1,500 calories per day, and I also dabbled with "intermittent fasting" every 3 to 4 weeks.

Today I try to get 2-3 workouts a week, with 30 mins of cardio and 45-60mins of weight lifting.

Milkman lol i didnt spend half a thousand on a phone so i could play it cool and be all stealth
