Choi will probably KO Cub but I thought there was value on him at +195 so I placed a bet on him

OMG lol you know when you're totally out of it when Swanson is +195 against a guy you don't know. Fuck. I like Holloway and Cerrone as well but their lines probably aren't too interesting (-185 and -260).

You almost twin-caracked his AK - JonnyCosmo

holloway has a ton of momentum with supreme confidence as a fighter
cerrone chokes vs people who dont respect his stand up, also his reach height advantage here is nil

Holloway TKO or Pettis ITD then ?

Swanson moves a lot and is hard to hit, however Choi has the height and reach + this is going to be a striking match. I love Cub but Choi is winning this one.

Holloway because of the "conor blessing" he's received
TKO to strikes under 4

Common misconception. Cerrone doesn't simply choke. He has just always had trouble with pressure fighters because his footwork is very stationairy and he had no head movement. So when anyone pressured him he had no answer. He's much better at dealing with it now, mixing in takedowns and moving his feet/head better.

Last 10 min they interview a Vegas bookie, I think you guys may find it interesting - nothing we don't know but still fun - interesting that they were going to pull MMA from Vegas books because only sharps bet but then it blew up at perfect time.

My thoughts currently

• Holloway > Pettis via decision or late tko
• Cerrone > Brown via sub
• Choi > Swanson via KO but the odds are too wide now, Swanson is slick on the ground and Choi's jits/cardio/overall game are untested
• Kennedy > Gastelum via decision (close)
• Mein > Meek via KO
• Cirkunov vs Krylov - Not sure yet
• Mercier vs Dober - Not sure yet
• Letourneau vs Pereira - Not sure yet
• Gagnon vs Lopez - Not sure yet
• Vannata > Makdessi via decision or late tko - excited to see if Vannata is the real deal (I think he is) and I like how they matched him up vs a solid gatekeeper technical striker
• Khabilov vs Saggo - Not sure yet
• Makovsky > Ortiz via decision

This is pretty spot on although vs Diaz he def did mindfuck himself he admits hes a slow starter as well.

The fact that Brown is such a quick starter and is a pressure fighter is worrisome but honestly, Brown's durability (his body is always vulnerable) is getting questionable and Cerrone is just so much better everywhere except its close in the clinch (they are both excellent).

Cerrone's head movement still sucks but his reactionary takedown's / speed have changed everything at WW. He only loses if he fights dumb and Brown takes him out super early in an exchange. If I was Cerrone I'd be ready to teep the shit out of that frail body charging at me.

I don't disagree with the pick but if you don't think Cub will mix in level changes and wrestling with that movement you are underestimating his grappling credentials and Jackson's probable advice.

If you want to bet Choi, I'd do it when the line hits 160 - 180ish fight day, not at -220 where it's at now

Just my own personal MMA "worldview": (esp after rewatching fights)

I think Mein is going to murder him. I am big on Mein. He's 1 of the cleanest strikers in all of MMA (Masvidal-eque but slower and hits harder) All of his losses were to high competition after he 10-8'd Thiago Alves, and ran into the Matt Brown zombie after he did insane damage. That was a wild fight - people should watch it.

Meek is just the heavy hitting guy who KO'd Palheras and is a bit chinny himself.

Yes, there is a layoff but this shouldn't even be close unless Meek has become 5x better and Mein 5x worse. If Mein is tense and nervous, he could get laid out, if he's loose and on point, he'll have him out of there in 3-4 minutes tops.

Fave line on all cards is hitting the under (incase Meek lands clean early) and Mein itd.

I dont like Brown at all I think he is stiff, sloppy and very hittable, the only thing going for him is his well known relentless aggression and as Stim mentioned Cerrone isnt very good against pressure.

Cerrone sure should be a favorite but at those odds I see more value betting on Brown than on Cerrone

Choi doi reminds me a little of early mcgregor.

We know his stand up is great, and he has amazing power.
That being said, there is a lot of question marks on the rest of his game. His ufc fights have all been very short.

There is no question mark on Cub. We know he is very hard to KO. He lasted 5 round against Frankie. He is really good everywhere.
At those odds i def see value on Swanson.

Choi has looked amazing recently, but he only fought low ranks fighters.
Swanson is a major step up in competition.

Its not rare to see someone do really good against low level ufc fighters and then do a total fluke once they face high level competition (sage, means, etc).

james9994: make note dont play against floofy, ;(

If I'm taking Brown, it's the round 1 prop at +675. Just one man's opinion, but he's not beating Cerrone over any reasonable period of time.

Not much value for gut feels but Cerrone has distractions coming into this and watching I think an embedded and the stare downs, want to say he looks/feels off. And his recent psychology strategy of having his aw schucks, almost overly friendly demeanor in fight week to weigh ins doesn't work vs the RDAs or Diazs or Matt Browns of the world. Of course those two are a lot better than Matt Brown. And Cerrone really is better everywhere except possibly the clinch. Cerrone by body kick into tko or follow up submission seems likely. Just wonder if Matt Brown can zombie mode and capitalize if a less than A version of Cerrone shows up

I like Vannata and Kennedy a lot. Holloway and Choi but a bit. Kinda wanna see Pettis win and I didn't get on Choi before his line jumped up pretty dramatically. Hoping and expecting line to shift back down at least a little bit since Swanson is a public friendly figure. Like that under in Mein/Meek fight. And thought I was gonna be on Cerrone but instead may throw a tiny bit on Brown or probably just pass

Should be a pretty fun card even without Rumble/Cormier

Cerrone looks the same to me.

If anyone looks off it's Matt Brown. He's super emotional this time and is using some newfound hatred for Cerrone to fuel his fire. People who act like he is acting are usually trying to hide fear or some other emotion.

Also, Cerrone's "recent" psychology isn't really recent. He has been acting the same way for several years during fight week and during the weigh-in.

If you're gonna bet Brown, bet his KO/TKO line at +450 or better. His style won't allow him to win a decision here.

Yea meant I was going to throw a dart on Brown itd or ko/tko, not straight. My odds just weren't reloading at the time so didn't know. Really will probably just pass anyways.

Not so recent for cerrone (he started it by hiring a psychologist after getting into it with Nate in fight week and disaappointing himself on fight night like he thought he had in a cpl big moments before) but I still read him as being a little taken aback that Brown wasn't just going along with it and buddying up to him like others have. But yea this is in all likelihood bullshit that I'm seeing and I do agree that Browns sudden 'beef' with Cerrone seems contrived

iakim322   United States. Dec 09 2016 19:01. Posts 1335

Definitely don't think Brown is afraid or something like that though. By most accounts I've read or heard, he asked for this fight

He does have to feel some pressure. And he's kind of an all in or nothing guy who's on the wrong side of thirty. Maybe he'll surprise with a retirement announcement if he gets his shit kicked in by Cerrone

Rest of my bets:

-To win: Brown, Choi, Kennedy, Mercier and Vannata
-Over 1.5 rd: Cirkunov/Krylov

Just felt like in a striking match Pettis will have the edge, obv Max can grapple/submit etc. but I feel like the fight will be a striking match mostly.

If it goes into the 2.5 round then I feel like Pettis is doomed based on his last fight, he was gassed after like 1.5 rds.

Good win for Oritz, surprised he was able to win the scrambles, I thought Zach would win.

Joe Rogan very pretty biased though, I had it 29-28 Ortiz (2 and 3 for Ortiz) but 3 was almost a toss-up.

Pretty sweet for me. Had straight bet and vannata in most lineups

Ended up passing on both Cerrone - Brown and the main. Hopefully they entertain either way

Anyone have strong lean for Cirkunov/Krylov? Good fight I kinda forgot about

Good win for Cirkunov.

25-30 minutes until the next fight, depending how much they want to drag out the PPV card. Usually they waste 10 minutes promoting stuff once a PPV card starts.

Mein is mentally not in the fight, while Meek is hungry going into Round 3.

Wow. Rd 2 Mein just lays there. Never really thought to his heart vs Brown and Alvez but I'm seeing a pattern now. His cardio and/or toughness are awful.

Brandon Thatching it up. Fuck Mein.

Meek: My jaw is fucked, my rib is cracked, but I’m doing freaking awesome.

Must have all happened in round 1 before Mein just broke down just praying for a standup for 8 min straight.

No bueno.

The good news is, there are no more Canadians left on the card, so you don't have to waste your money betting on them.

R1 and R2 were close in the Cowboy/Brown fight.

R3 starting.

Sick KO by Cowboy in R3!

I thought Brown would go even harder on the 1st, he seemed much stronger and he was doing way better on clinches, he should have made it uglier against the cage I dont know why he tried to fight with more distance, again he got hurt with a body kick, he is so vulnerable to them he dropped his right hand and ate switch kicks to the head all night

I thought he had a better than expected performance, best of his career. He gave Cerrone everything he had, just wasnt enough. I thouight if he fought that well Cerrone would have gone down.

His liver has always been his achilles and ate like 10 headkick because of it

Yeah, Matt Brown looked way better out there than I expected. He actually learned something from training with Ludwig.

Brown is in a weird spot. He's 1-5 in his last 6, and was finished in his last 3 fights. He has name value, the fans love him, and any organization would hire him real fast, so I'm not sure what the UFC will do with him.

Holloway would've won anyway, but it's too bad Pettis broke his hand in Round 1. He was a sitting duck for the most part after R2.

I agree he seemed technically better than ever, I didnt seem his usual slopiness at all, but I think he should have pushed harder in the 1st, even if he felt confident in his technical improvement it was not the best strategy against Cerrone.

Yeah his liver is weak... but I dont even know how that works, I mean there are many chinny fighters, and boxers who were known for having soft bodies but I've never seen anybody with a "liver button" like Brown

Ended up losing -$60 on DK. Surprised I even won anything considering I went 0-5 to start the night.

Crazy results owned me again on a PPV, but that's standard. Next week's card looks cool, so I'll try to rebound on that one.

Gastelum barely managing to do a 3 round fight vs a 37yo ( Kennedy s obviously a really solid guy, but age does matter..) and seemed like he had a Dad Bod, if guy wasnt lazy as fuck he d be in the top of his division.

Brown vs Cerrone was a pretty cool fight to watch, the KO was cool, but it was cause Brown was exhausted so he didnt pull his head/ right hand back in time. Cerrone outpaced him hard in R3

Pettis vs Holloway, well we got robbed out of this one due to the broken hand, would've been a far better fight otherwise :/ Both have a really cool style that uses momentum in a really weird way. Holloway still had round 1 though imo, but that doesnt mean too much in a 5 round fight. Pettis still hasnt been KOd which is good for him, but its gonna be a long climb back for him.

Didn't bother to watch other fights

Dana is mad at Cerrone for the fighters union thing, as you can see in the weigh in. And now he didnt receive the performance of the night xd

Dunno if thats true or not, but would be quite funny, since Cerrone is his most active fighter. He s had 4 fights a year, 4 years in a row taking in last notice fill ups whenever he s been asked to and it took 8 straight wins for them to finally give him a title shot which was just ridiculous and its probably going to take at least 1 more win in Welterweight to consider him for a title shot again and that s only if McGregor doesn't decide he wants to fight Woodley

nah, Holloway finish was good but Cerrone head kick KO was better by far.

To be fair Cerrones willingness to fight anyone anywhere means he is often fighting lower ranked guys and rarely beats top ranked competition. Only ranked fighters he's ever really beat are Benson ( should have lost ) Alavrez, and I think story was fringe top 10ish but not sure. So that's why he doesn't really get title shots that easy.

Hey Im slinging mad volume and fat stackin benjies I dont got time for spellin n shit - skinny pete

Cerrone has beaten several ranked fighters over the years, you just gotta remember who was doing well during which year. Since he'll fight anyone, it only seems as if he isn't fighting the best guys.

Story, Brown, Henderson, Dunham, etc. Several of the guys he beat used to be ranked at the time, but suck now.

Ranked = #1 to #15
