Boxing: Kovalev vs Ward

No interest on this? I think one of the best match ups in boxing in recent years.

This is the best boxing match-up in several years, but it's going under the radar. I forgot it was happening until I heard about it last night in an MMA podcast.

The weekend:

• Invicta FC 20 (Friday @ 6pm PST/9pm EST)
• UFC in Ireland: Mousasi vs Hall 2 (Saturday @ 9am PST/12pm EST)
• UFC in Brazil: Bader vs Nogueira 2 (Saturday @ 3:30pm PST/6:30pm EST)
• Bellator 165: Michael Chandler vs. Henderson (Saturday @ 6pm PST/9pm EST)
• Kovalev vs. Ward (Saturday @ 9pm PST/11:59 EST, maybe 30 minutes earlier)

Kovalev is my favorite fighter in all of boxing to watch (with GGG not far behind)

Dude, ggg is way more exciting and just plain better thsn kovalev! Just my opinion. Ward is a lot stronger than people know. He will get close and grab and do inside ugly fighting. I think ward wins in an ugly decision. Boxing rules are not enforced its ridiculous. I want kovalev to ktfo ward but it aint happening.

yeah saw a video of people saying that GGG beat up kovalev in sparring in a certain gym

Well i'm still pretty much a boxing noob. One of my friends is a junkie and I've started watching a lot of the fights with him.

Kovalev just has a hilarious demeanor and personality to him (GGG does also I guess!) that I really enjoy, plus he just knocks everyone out. GGG prob is the more talented guy. It's going to be awesome to watch him fight Canelo when that does inevitably happen..

Ward vs. Kovalev won't start till the standard boxing time in USA, which is at 8:30pm-9pm PST. We still have another 5 hours to go until it's 8:50pm PST.

I guess I'm being a bit of a buzz kill and while it is great for boxing that two elite fighters are fighting each other while they are still actually elite, I never have excitement expectations for Ward fights. Hopeful that Kovalev can either hurt Ward or take some early rounds. There's not many more boring things to watch in sports than Ward coasting and clinching away. Kovalev is technically underrated. Fights off a long jab real well. Combined with the natural size advantage and with Ward having seemingly lost a tiny bit of speed, hopeful. He's not nearly as aggressive, come forward as GGG or as some ppl make him out to be though so really, hopeful he doesn't get Wardneutralized in first 4

great fight I had kovalev winning but i don't think it's a complete farce, ward really did rally and come back in the later rounds

such a shame that boxing still has the most obvious riggings ever and nothing is ever done about it

at least there will for sure be a 2nd fight

Ward's fucking double legs and knee taps were annoying me tho, why no warnings for that -_-
