imagine the 5 pool and bunker rushes being still viable strategies - used by both newbs and the best pros alike, but still varying in efficacy because even the most simple moves that are frowned upon has levels of skill in execution? me doing a 5 pool and jaedong or effort doing it makes a world of differnce. it's really an amazing game. you can't even see that in chess

Pros are so much better at defending against cheese though because they dont shy to use a lot of workers

how well are they playing when compared to when flash was the bonjwa?
Flash lost this one to Last. It was his tourney to lose and TVT is such a coinflip. Jaedong is set to return and Fantasy/Jangbi might take a year before we see them back. If the prizes and stream income increases we might see them.
why his tournament to lose?, he got steamrolled 3-0 by last, they didnt looked even close skillwise

I just read the prize pool for this tournament was $13.5k for first, $2.7k for second, and $900 for 3rd-4th. Isn't this ridiculously small?

Well, we can execute the build order but their wraith micro (to take my example) is way out of our league right? Probably some other stuff too

In his streams though he smashes everyone, including shuttle. some say he didnt really prep well because he couldnt be bothered with his streams, which he makes around 30k usd a month from not including sponsor money. his TVT i think is his weakest, i think for everyone that is the case in mirror matches since usually it's such a shitty coinflip. Bisu and Effort have difficulty beating him and BEST has also been getting his ass kicked when FLash went back in form

I dont get why you call TvT a coinflip, its arguably the most strategical and methodical of all matchups
In sc2 I found TvT to be the only matchup where I could take a lot of the things i learned from brood war and put it into my game. In TvZ and TvP is was like an entire new game.... And for me in a very bad way
:D

anyone else know any good tournaments that have been casted by Tasteless/Artosis? Doesn't matter how old
even though flash lost 0-3 vs last, you can see that through august he was ridiculously dominant. 22-2 tvt against other top dogs (including 5-1 vs last), flash has better stats vs t, z and p than any other player has against any single race. Agree that tvt is the least coinflippy matchup. And yeah what whamm said; when tournament prize is $13k, it doesn't inspire to that great prepping when he's getting $30k per month for streaming anyway.
what I meant about coinflippy isn't really how the term is used in poker. since these guys play in such a high level coinflippy could also mean unforgiving as most mirror matches are. zvz pvp tvt, you rarely see any comeback games from those mirror matchups since they're very dependent on early game skirmishes and build orders. having mirror builds ends up being a boring and long games, so it really depends on one or two skirmishes to dictate who wins the game. with noobs of course most make mistakes over and over and still recover, but in their levels in mirror games its just 2 at most and youre dead. unseige your tanks at the wrong time, go with too many tanks early vs wraiths, get doom dropped with 4 dropships on your way to the enemy base. that kind of thing.

oh wow those stats are unarguable, give his TvT winrate you can say a 0-3 result should be nearly impossible, that should give great insight in how important preparation and other factors are.
Wow, thanks for sharing these. I have been working through them slowly & really enjoyed them so far.
if poker is dangerous to them i would rank sports betting as a Kodiak grizzly bear who smells blood after you just threw a javelin into his cub - RaiNKhAN
Any other recommended tournaments etc to check out?

Flash vs 424 a.k.a "Jaedong" (rumored to be coming back, just like Bisu's No1star smurf before he officially came back)
Afreeca stream monies attracting old bonjwas back into BW YES!
Tourneys will become much, much bigger soon
All we need now is Stork and Fantasy, also Jangbi who's almost done with Army duties then BW will be in beastmode again
