Movement. It is a movement about movement. Writing that out is kind of absurd. It is as simple as moving but a lot more. Fuck it, I will just post some links.
I find this stuff fascinating. I want to move more. I want to know more. If I do not die in x years, it would be nice to feel good and healthy as I get older. I don't want to spend $1,000+ on 2 day seminars.
What say ye LP?

seems to be where MMA is heading really soon. too much focus on repetitive brain damage inducing hard training seems to wear fighters out more than actual fighting it seems. I think i can believe this shit more, like a moving yoga or something

ye it is a fad, humans have been moving forever and pretty much nothing has changed for the longest period of time...
yoga, meditation etc. have been around forever. different people need different "marketing"
movement enables you to: fight better - Ido and MoveNat
With sports becoming more "solved" by the year it is definitely gaining popularity among high level athletes and trickles down to casuals and semi-serious sportsmen (or movers).
Having followed tennis and now golf there is certainly a shift in metagame in recent years where advantages are made during practice.
As for myself, i do different things and try to keep stuff interesting and challenging. It is rewarding to succeed in sports coupling physical attributes with game specific skills. I'd have to admit i get most out of playing around with Kelly Starrett type of stuff and dealing with my weaknesses. Just did hip mobility stuff today.
Go right ahead and get busy, easy to do this time of year, lots of guys come into the gym with new years resolutions ;D

Yeah, it is definitely a fad but I think there is more to it. There is something to be said for the generalize vs specialize topic. But, it is tough to get good at something with out specialization. What I am concerned about is the specialization of being in captivity: desk chairs, computers, couches, tvs, being indoors, etc etc. The idea that it takes more than an hour of not so well programmed exercise 3 times a week resonates with me. I definitely dislike the marketing of all the one hand handstands and the like but I do think there are a lot of principles and movements with in that that surely have a lot of merit. I have been experimenting with sitting on the floor a lot more. Non-heeled shoes. It would be awesome to just completely disregard marketing and brainwashed peer herd mentality as best as possible. A part of me would love to move out to a rain shadow community in Washington and live that life. Maybe, that is another thing I need to experiment with. Just being a barefooted monkey, foraging around, squatting to shit, no furniture, swinging from trees mo fucka.

No need for expensive seminars. People are far too willing to pay people to show them how to do stuff I never understood this.
Anyway just get a good body weight workout regime check this out for free only need email (not shilling tbh http://www.homemademuscle.com/workout-guides/ )
After that if you want to be all fancy and shit just look it up yourself and do the gecko walk or something but basically what I got from what Ido was that his philosophy is just to not specialize do everything e.g dance, yoga, martial arts, hiking, swimming etc.
I don't really think there is much to be gained by becoming super fancy or good at movement. I don't agree that movement should be your entire life philosophy but I do agree that you have to do it. So my advice is to yes do these things because it's good for you but focus on other aspects of your life to me it's just for health.

Walking is very underrated and stimulates the mind there is just something about walking that makes you think better so don't be all fancy and start walking more.

parkour gymnastics are probably the same but this portal method seems to be less risky so yeah id understand if some rich folks would want to be more agile and pay for this shit and not risk breaking their necks or legs

Just read the Ido Portal thread about him being douchey. No surprise there. Sold his soul for money. But does that take away from what he has to say about movement? Hmm.

What do people know about minimalist footwear?
That is an easy change that makes sense. Do more yoga and stretch whenever is another one. I think it would be cool to go without chairs and couches and sit on the floor but that is more difficult and requires some progression.

This shit reminds me of the stuff you learn about as a white belt in Judo. It's called Ukemi.
You learn this shit so you don't get thrown on your head.
