Bulgarian style training is essentially what gotunk said. Usually it's squat 6+ times a week with really high frequency obviously they use pretty high intensity and lowish volume each day. Usually working up to a "daily 1 rep max" which isn't a true 1 rep max. It's usually around 90% iirc. But is auto regulated so depends how you feel on the day. And then afterwards I believe they do a backoff set of 5 or something. Depends a lot. I've seen it programmed many ways. Gotunk iirc said he was squatting 8 times a week but doing no backoff work. So ye it really varies and isn't for a beginner. Realistically isn't even for an intermediate. It takes a lot of knowledge of programming to manage it properly

I was about to make changes in my routine. Then dabbling with the 1rm calculator it showed i was close to benching 100kg (220lbs). I don't train heavy, shoot for 8-12 reps in my sets. Today i benched 90kg 5x so in theory i should be set. Sure there are guys lot stronger than me but this "magic number" has got me all excited for no reason. Never tried to squat or deadlift anything remotely heavy.

That's how it starts. Pretty soon you'll be looking at the next milestone until you're totally hooked. Gg fluff lifting. Welcome to the iron game

i did a variation of this a few months ago:

http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/cory-gregory-squat-every-day.html

that got my squat from around a 255-265 1rm to 315 from april through may, then i got super super lazy over summer. going to go for broke this time. really wanted to hit a 495 DL this year but whatever. that'll be my next goal

bench... who cares lol

how the hell is ur squat so close to your deadlift o_0. insane. I wish you luck sir.

i used to DL a lot. got to 405 when my squat was still around 275 and topped out at 425 i think (in terms of 1rm)? when i decided to focus on squatting more i just did enough DL to not go down.

Since you are tall, eat as much as possible and do smolov or squat everyday.

i'll look into smolov, seems like an interesting program.

squats/diddlylifts is where it's at. makes me cringe everytime i see someone load up a bunch of weight and do a half squat. go for 100kg, use the fear of getting crushed by the bar as your spot

program looks decent. i mean its basically a bulgarian split with his own modifications. and for some reason he wants to do a ton of variations which. assuming he means just do all of them i dont see the point. if you can do like highbar + frontsquats only for example for say someone that has weak quads. then i guess thats cool. but doing variation for the sake of variation is taking away one of the real awesome parts of these kinds of programs. That you get to practice your main movement everyday.

If you're not already using a belt and/or wraps, getting those might be enough to push you to 405 by the end of the year. If you're doing high-bar squats, you should be able to convert to low-bar and hit 405 that way too. If you're already doing low-bar squats with gear, good luck! The only way I see you winning the bet is if you haven't been giving 100% effort to reach your current maxes.

wraps is cheating imo. He could also get a multi-ply suit lol

He didn't tell us the rules of the bet. If wraps are allowed, he should use them if he wants to win the bet.

How close are you to 240kg now Gotunk?

LOL I could just imagine OP buys a monolift and multiply suit and wraps just to win the bet.

Oh then if u practice with it and learn to brace properly u might be able to actually do it.

If you're gonna really do this, I recommend eliminating all dead lift training for now, all resources go to squat training and recovery.

Probably stop doing ass to grass squats for a while too since you need to mimic the squat that you're actually going to do with the 405, so basically just perfect going to parallel. Nm this if your 365 squat already uses the stretch reflex.

Has the bet been lifted?

Gonna +1 smolov

you absolutely have to do a squat specific program though

oh shit didn't know you haven't used a belt before. Definitely get a proper lifting belt asap and get used to it. It will help a ton but you're gonna need to get some reps in before it feels comfortable and you learn to actually use it properly. It'll for sure add a few pounds though

I use some pos from olympia sports, I think it's ATLAS brand. Honestly anything that isn't flared in back that fits and won't slack on you will help. If you have stores around that have them in stock go try a few.

you're looking for something like one of these
http://www.amazon.com/Leather-Power-W...1-18&keywords=weight+lifting+belt
http://www.amazon.com/RDX-Leather-Lif...1-35&keywords=weight+lifting+belt
http://www.amazon.com/Powerlifting-Be...1-41&keywords=weight+lifting+belt
http://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Leather...1-42&keywords=weight+lifting+belt

those are all fairly thick and probably 4 inch belts, I believe most olympic lifters use 2 inch, but as long as the belt is the same width throughout and has a solid clasp you should be fine.
