So I stumbled across this documentary on YouTube while looking through old GSL replays. I feel like this might've been shared on LP before but I couldn't find anything when I searched for it.

Basically the doc is centered around Tasteless and Artosis and how they eventually became probably the 2 biggest casters in all of esports. It's really enjoyable and a lot of the stuff both guys go through was really relatable to me.

There is also mention of some LPer's: Elky, Rekrul, Grrrrrrr, Day[9] (Tasteless' brother) and I think Smuft might've been mentioned briefly as well.

Anyways here are links to all 4 parts of the documentary. Enjoy

iirc this production was considered underwhelming after the build-up and long period of people waiting for its release?

It seems to be not very profitable in the long run to play those kind of hands. - Gus Hansen

are you trying to convince people they are incorrect to enjoy it or something? lol

i hadn't heard of it or watched anything starcraft-related for like a decade, so i thought it was cool. if there was a lot of build-up/letdown, i assume the affected starcraft docu proletariat have already experienced their disappointment by now.

I don't think that's what he's saying. I assume in Korea it's like put on billboards/commercials/other advertising everywhere. SC is basically the number 1 sport there (I think, right?).

I just randomly stumbled upon this and thought it was really well done, so I obviously did not have not super high expectations like maybe people in Korea did

Also enjoyed watching it for what it was, with zero prior expectations or having heard of it before

http://www.dailydot.com/esports/artosis-tasteless-sons-of-starcraft/ - however it was also interesting to read that the project ended up bitterly disappointing for most parties involved

Pretty cool.
I went to a wcg qualifier in chicago long ass time ago basically not knowing anyone and tasteless was by far the nicest guy there happy to see him doing well.

i liked and watched it all in one go but I was a bit confused about the different parts.
In part2 (or 3) it was mostly about artosis wanting to become a pro in sc2 and barely making a living in sc1 and then next episode doesnt cover any of this and just hops right into sc2 commentary time. I would liked to know/see more about the early sc2 stage where artosis tried to become pro and shit...

no I'm just saying I think that was the context of the production, if I remember right people expected something a little different, and wasn't it also crowdsourced?

or I might have it confused with the Liquid Rising documentary, or it could be both. I think what happens is the community sees trailers that create infinite hype and then like a year+ later they get a blunt reminder that documentaries are basically just interviews whereas they expected more like behind-the-scenes or candid moments maybe

for sure but still i would have liked to see how it turned out the first days and when he let it go and stuff instead of poking into that topic during beta and then never mentioning it again ever.

This is some major early 2000's nostalgia for many people here. Brings a big, juicy tear to my eye.

ah, yeah i have no clue about that. my point was that anyone who hasn't already seen it is probably part of a less critical audience. like if you're with some chinese people and they've never eaten mexican food before, so you go to a mexican restaurant and it's kind of meh. but they think it's delicious. you don't say "actually this mexican food is very mediocre and unimpressive".

i see your point though kind of.
