More nods thrown LP's way. Just sticking to strat #1, bet whatever I think they will call/fold. Got everything from $200 pre to $30/$100 pot bets with the results I wanted. Set a new single session record for me winning about 600BB's at one table. Obligatory chip porn below: 2/5 NLHE

Day1: -$40
Day2: $970
Day3: $190
Day4: -$1700
Day5: -$1420
Day6: $635
Day7: $2850
_____
Total: $1485

nice, good job,

like previously said, it's all about understanding your table, the people and how to make money,

it's about making an awful bluff on paper if you know it's gonna go threw 100% of the time,

it's about folding your second nuts when you know he simply has the nuts even if it doesn't make sense,

it's about 600$ river bet vs 275$ river bet if you know he's calling the 600$,

it's about 275% river bet vs 600$ river bet if you know he's only calling the 275$,

It's about not balancing, it's about making the right money at the right time. Only balance vs the 1 or 2 player at the table who can spot certain things you do.

seemed like a great session, don't be too result oriented tho, I am sure you ran really hot. You seem to have improved a lot in the past 2 days tho, simply by opening your mind, keep it up. It's not hard.

How big of a city is Jacksonville? I think there are like 3 poker rooms there. Is there a lot of money in that town? Snowbirds? You get a lot of 2-5 tables? Does it play higher?

I used to play a lot in Daytona, they get quite a few people from Orlando. There was always a few 2-5s, minimum 2, maximum 5-6. Decent room. A mix of old peoples money (75%) and thug/drug money (25%), at least, it seemed that way.

I also tried the games in Miami and they were a bit better, more splashing, more money in general.

Anyway, if you have 2 secs to answer about the Jacksonville questions, would be appreciated

Most would be demoralized after the two consecutive losses. Great job turning it around!

ship it brah

if poker is dangerous to them i would rank sports betting as a Kodiak grizzly bear who smells blood after you just threw a javelin into his cub - RaiNKhAN

Jacksonville is alright. The city itself seems nice enough, clean streets if you're in the right areas, nice big malls, etc. A lot of live donks like to talk about how you can make a living as a poker pro here, but I'm not quote sold on in yet from the action I've seen. Brian Hastings is dating a dealer from BestBet, so I guess he's from around here or something.

I havent played at the other card rooms because I hear they are just smokey dog tracks filled with old men. 2/5 NLHE is the main game here. On weekends there are maybe 10 tables of 2/5 running, and maybe 3-5 tables of 2/2 NLHE. There are also a few PLO, limit, stud and O8 games scattered around. I often see a 5/10 waitlist that usually kicks off 1-table by 10pm or so. There is a nightly 5/10 PLO deepstack 3k buyin that runs. I always see the same players in it though. On Wednesday there was only 3 tables of 2/5 running, so I imagine that is as bad as it ever gets.

The crowd seems pretty good, lot of young to middle aged guys, all races, and maybe 10 women in entire room. "Thug money" is a funny term, because I'll see these guys with dirty t-shirts and holes in their jeans buying in for the minimum but just getting it allin pre over and over with 79s and stuff.

They have nightly high hand $500 prize / $100 table share and constant bad beat jackpot. $5 max rake + 1 for bad beat I think and thats it.

The thing about a city like JV is that it is not known for poker, so I wouldnt be surprised if the player pool is actually much wetter than vegas or south florida. Nobody comes to JV to go pro, so the fact that there is this much action here means you might actually be able to go pro if you wanted. That is part of my test here, to see if it's possible to play 7 nights per week and make a living.

Yeah just one week test run, technically 10 days when you add up weekends. Although I am seriously considering burning up all my sick time and staying here for another week, cuz ya know my tummy really hurts and I must have caught something while on vacation.

bye now
