Uncap games, put it all on the table?

So all the homegames in my city are totally uncapped. It's 2/5 but you could buy in for 10k if you wanted (couple of rich maniacs did this once for lulz, but they also played it like 25/50). In general most people buy in for 500-1k, with the occasional successful businessman buying in for 2k.

My question is should I just put whatever roll I bring with me that night entirely on the table? For instance if I normally come with 2k with the intention of reloading 4x at 500 a pop, should I just say fuck it and put the whole 2k on the table since I'm really only playing 500 effective most of the time anyway? Or do we like having a few bullets so we can ship it a few times and lose.

I generally like just buying in live for 100bb since that's what I'm used to, but if there's a big fish at the table its a crime not to have him covered.

I think it depends on your roll but if your only 500 eff most of the time and it's a home game I'd rather people not know how deep my pockets are personally and just top up as necessary.

I don't think it really matters what you buy in for as long as you are comfortable. You just want to be somewhere where you can play your A game successfully. With 2k I think it's fair to do 4 bi's of 500 but I'd rather do 2 of 1k.

rather do 1k so if a really bad player doubles up fro 500 you don't snap add on another 500 to have him covered and make it that obvs..

Putting it all on table as one giant bullet seems bad. How frustrating/embarrassing would it be if you get stacked in first hour and just have to leave. While having the fish covered is nice I think guaranteeing the most hands with the fish is more important. If I had 2k for a 2/5 game I would be splitting it up into 4 100bb bullets

I'd buying 2k, why not. If I stack off for 400bb vs one of these fish I am most likely going to be winning the pot

Unless Noone is that deep. Then just buyin 200bb. I'd like to buy in for whatever covers the recs

Another thing to consider is when you are on one bullet it's really hard to not to have that fact factor into some of your decisions (scared money)

Couple points:

- It is good to cover weaker players.

- It is good not to let people know how much your roll for the evening is.

- It is usually good to establish a loose/bluffy image early on in the game. For that, it might be a good idea to buyin short in the beginning and play looser / get it in a bit lighter. You get deep by either winning or rebuying for more and then you can get paid off in deeper spots lighter by weaker players.

cant really argue with any of this. obv dont give ur money away at beginning tho... but i have definiteyl had a better hourly buying in 150-200bb than 500 bb+ for some reason ppl just know u have it when ur that deep even if they aren't lol.

poker is soooo much easier when you flop sets
