Don't ever buy a Sony ever ever ever. A friend of mine dropped it once from 15 cm on a road and the display broke -> 300$ repair then replaced it dropped it in his car near his fuckin gear box on a plastic from 10cm and the display broke again, thats pathetic build quality t

Fucking this. I was sold on the waterproof aspect. stupid me. Mind you, I got my first cell phone in Jan of last year.. late bloomer hah.

@ trax - And I 100% disagree w/ you about thinking contracts are better. I'm not sure how contracts work down there in the states, but it's wayyyyyyyyy better to have a phone going in to a contract. It's similar to paying for anything completely up front or getting gouged by interest.

Kinda sucks I'm still paying for an expensive sony phone thats contract won't be done until next Jan. while I'm using this cheap chinese knockoff, but whatever. F sony phones. And F 2 yr cell contracts. Once this contract is up I'm gonna buy some unlocked ~yr old model off a reputable seller on ebay. Save myself a bunch of money.

I think the S6 edge is really nice. I'm sold on nexus devices though. I don't like having to mess with custom roms to get the latest software updates. I have a nexus 5 and am anxiously awaiting the new nexus 5.

I'm using the Samsung Galaxy S5. I actually waited a long time to switch over from my S3, and only did so because I didn't feel like buying a new case.

Regarding the S5, it's pretty cool, but the phones keep getting bigger and bigger, so it's getting hard to fit them in my back pocket, and I'm forced to carry them around.

No matter what phone you use, you must buy an Otterbox case for it, as it's the best case around. Otterbox Commuter series is my favorite case, but my S5 came with a Defender series which makes my phone seem even bigger, but gives it the best protection. The Commuter series doesn't add much bulk to your phone, and gives two layers of protection. I'd recommend buying it from Amazon instead of the Otterbox website. When you're on Amazon, make sure the seller is Amazon or Otterbox, and not some random guy.

In the USA if you go with a non contract plan then you are going with some shitty inferior carrier and you will get worse reception. You may save a couple dollars per month but there is no doubt you are getting less product. The best plan in this country is a grandfathered unlimited Verizon plan that is no longer offered.

Anyways I really like this S6 so far, realized I have been wasting a ton of time browsing on an old slow phone without 4G. This phone is nearly as fast as my new laptop so I am just wasting far less time using it. It is better than the Iphone 6 imo.

I think Iphones are the most hipster device. People buy iPhones often in part to be cool and join the clique. I was doing that myself at one point but realized I am better off ditching the brand to go with the best product. Iphone software (IOS) is generally great if not the best but it is restrictive and Iphones put the weakest hardware possible in the phone so that in one or two iterations when you accidentally download that new software update changing ur IOS from 8.2 to 9.1 you are fucked because your phone isn't fast enough to run it and all your shit starts crashing

No phone is the best at everything, just find what you want most.

Need a very long battery life and never have a chance to fast charge? Then get a bigger battery, like Note 4 or a sony z3c.
Need a very good camera? get LG g4/s6/iphone 6
Want superior UI? get a Motorola X or look into rooting or get a Nexus phone
Need a cheap good phone? look at all the cheap 200-300 stuff, zenfone 2, alcatel idol 3, moto G/E

Save money and get a used phone, iphone 5/5c/5s, note 2/3, LG g3

you guys are spending 1k on a new phone every 2 years or are you on these $80/month+ plans that help subsidize the cost?

Oh and from what I have seen contract plans actually offer a better value.

Non contract plans often target the poor and uneducated who don't understand the way the fee structures are set up are worse despite being advertised as a cheaper option to major carriers. Exploiting people with bad credit and few good options. Much like the prepaid checking vs retail banking system and shit like that.

while contract>non contract, getting a sim-only contract plan and buying the phone in cash works out cheaper than getting a contract with a good phone included. The latter option is functionally the same as buying an expensive phone on credit at a presumably typical (expensive) consumer credit interest rate.

I live in UK, so for fun I decided to find out what the effective interest rate is you pay for buying a galaxy S6 on a fat contract vs buying in cash and signing up to a cheap sim-only contract, using typical numbers available for these things in UK:

Looks like buying a good phone on contract is the same as buying it on finance with a 26% interest rate. These numbers suggest you'd actually do better just using a regular credit card to buy a phone in cash!

Two year contracts are not saving you anything. They build price of phone into your monthly payments so you end up paying retail by the time your contract is up.

Can you buy a sim-only contract from verizon?

I still use my Nexus 4 I've had for the past 2 years. Nothing special, but it's gone through a fuck ton of being dropped on cement/hardwood and being thrown or stepped on. Don't even have a case for it.

Same story with my galaxy 3. No case ever, dropped once a day on avg. Went two plus years for me before I dropped it in the toilet.

i have the note 4, I always use the biggest screen

I like the stylus
I like the big screen
I like Samsungs ability to innovate

They basically steal Iphones ideas, but since they far more versatile, they can make far cooler apps + flexibility

If I were looking for a phoen>

A) Android Marketplace
B) Biggest screen possible that isn't a tablet
C) Stylus
