Hello everyone.

Game is 9 handed 2/5 live game. Villain seems like a passive regular. He generally doesn't raise to enter any pots preflop but when he flats he will likely always call a standard raise and play postflop. I've played with him before at a 1/2 game and noticed he was pretty tight and generally would always value bet if he liked his hand. He's probably solid enough to win against fish but I wouldn't classify him as a great player.

I have about $800 behind, villain has about the same amount. Few shorter stacks at the table. Highest stack is only about 900-1000.

Villain calls 5 from UTG +2. I'm in the HJ with 9c Jc. I raise to 25. Everyone folds. Villain calls.

Flop: Ac Td 2c

Villain checks. I bet 45. Villain calls.

Turn: 5c

Villain leads for $210. ????

I think folding here is too nitty and out of the question. I didn't really know how to react to this sizing. I tried to think of hands this guy would play this way and the only things I could really come up with are made flushes or KcX. If I elect to raise here, I'm pretty sure it has to be all in. If I consider calling, There are pretty much no good rivers I want to see. If the board pairs or any club comes up it would make this spot really hard if I get jammed on the river. There are very few ways to complete a straight on the river that he would have been bluffing with on the turn.

What do you guys think you would do here? I'll post results in a few days.

mmm.

For me this is tough.

Guy just seems like the kind of guy that could play a Kc3c like this. Could he play the Tc9c like this? The Tc6c like this? The Tc3c like this?

KcQx?
KcJx?
AxKc?

I don't know man. Live I would just do what the spidey sense is telling me. Or if I was on tilt I would just call it off and justify it as learning something?

9cJc is behind Villain's limping range UTG+2 (pairs, Broadway's, nuts since he doesn't open raise- quite common live) so even though you have position unless he is pretty bad I'd prefer to overlimp this particular hand if this is your typical live game where the players behind are more than happy to limp along and see a flop. Your raise is still +ev though overlimp might just be better.

As played I'd be puking on the turn a bit and 'live reads' come in here as you decide how to play the rest of the hand but I don't think you can outright fold turn lol (agree with u on that. His line is very consistent with KQ with the Kc looking to rock you off of Ax. Call him down

I like flat. call all non club rivers make note and possibly adjust depending on what he shows up with

I've seen fish donk turns with bluffs (at least I assume they're bluffs because they snap folded to a raise), and I've seen players donk with pretty good hands. I've never seen them donk with the nuts though. They always go for the check-raise. Unless he's one of those tards trying to get you to fold because he's worried you're gonna fill up on the river with AA or something I think I just go ahead and ship it here and expect to see like A5. The thing is these kind of players cant put you on J9cc because they would never ever raise that in a million years. So what he believes to be the relative nuts is probably a lot lighter than you think.

bye now

Id be call/calling almost every run out. I actually cant think of a run out atm that i'd fold... :| I think on 4flushes we have the hardest time unless one of them is K or Q in which case I'd call probably and probably fold other 4 flushes maybe.. not sure would be totally read dependent. And on board pairing rivers I still think we beat enough to call anyway but would be read dependent on what i've seen out of him, Ace would be the scariest of board paring cards for sure. I might also fold Tc since it 4flushes and pairs the board. And also cuts out some flushes he could be value/spazzing with on river that we actually beat.

However I definitely would never shove turn here. I think its gonna be borderline spew. if not spew then it will just fold out hands he could potentially be spazzing with or overplaying. Definitely think flatting here is going to make us more money.

I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance, by running away from the scene of an accident.Last edit: 21/06/2015 15:39

Thanks for all the input guys. My original plan was to call a normal sized bet (100-150)ish so if the river is a bad card and I get overbet jammed on I might be able to get away from this hand. I would still get value from blank rivers.

What I didn't like about this overbet is that it sets the pot up to where, in my opinion, being able to fold the river if necessary is going to be a lot harder than in the previous case. The only two solid things I could come up with that he had was pair + Kc or a made flush. I didn't completely rule out two pair or a set but the gut wasn't leaning toward those hands. I figured if he has the nuts already I'm getting stacked anyway and if he has XKc he might not be able to find a fold on the turn. I elected to shove all in. He called and showed Tc7c. I guess I got pretty lucky here that he didn't have at least the Qc. Perhaps calling the turn is still best even with the overbet, but I'm just giving my reasoning and trying to hear other opinions on spots like this.

I notice a lot of live players over bet because they are afraid of next card. So lots of small flushes/2pair/sets would be in that range. Looks to me more like a "gotta protect my hand cuz I'm afraid of another club coming" type bet. So easy call with J high flush.
