Yay, put a small $5 bet on Werdum at + 325 simply because I saw him winning more than 1/4 of the time.

For some reason, I can't remember why, I have Werdum tagged as a smart fighter in my mind. He's big, very skilled, can take damage, confident, experienced, and possibly smarter than most of his opponents.

When I think of Cain I just think "beast", strong and relentless.

Enough of my fish analysis, but anyone can be beaten in the world of MMA, it's hard to be on your A game for years in a row.

Only time I think I ever cheered as hard over a victory is the Weidman over Silva wins.

Werdum is the fucking man and I hope he can keep the title.

Both Cain and Werdum have 77 inch reaches, but Werdum clearly had a few extra inches on his punches; there were many times when Cain was in range of being hit while Werdum was just out of range. I was a little fucked up while watching so I don't remember if it was more because of FW's stance or because maybe Cain has wide shoulders and shorter arms, but those punches added up fast. Also Cain seemed to ignore defense until the 3rd round when he already had a lot taken out of him. Probably a good wake up call for him.

Cain didn't look too much different than the JDS fight. There were a few reasons he wasn't able to succeed here like he was in those one sided beatdowns. For one, the altitude slowed both fighters a bit, and Werdum has much better cardio than JDS. For two, Werdum is a better clinch fighter than JDS, so he was able to mount some offense in both exit strikes and knees from the clinch while JDS basically just defended takedowns and got punched in the head. And third, Werdum seems to have those really nice long punches while JDS throws tons of hooks/uppercuts, so Cain was out of range of Werdum while he was in range of JDS. Also think the cut changed the fight a lot; blood coming into his eye reducing vision, more strikes start to land, downward spiral. Hats off to werdum, really great job by him. Think a rematch in vegas would be about even money

Really great and brutal fight, but I hope they don't do an immediate rematch and instead do Cain vs Stipe and Werdum vs JDS 2. Immediate rematch would be great also, but think it bottlenecks the HW division a bit more.

Thank you Daut for someone to agree with me. I didn't think cain looked different; just wasn't facing the punching bag JDS.

7 out of 11 underdogs won tonight, so don't feel bad. If Werdum didn't win, I would've lost several units myself cuz Cain wasn't gonna finish that fight u2.5 rounds after he gassed in round 1 going for the big kill.

Also, the only guy who went past round 1 and didn't gas was Yair. Kelvin wasn't gassed, but he slowed down his pace in round 2. High altitude raped everyone.

TY

I thought Yair Rodriguez was the big over-achiever (obviously aside from Werdum) for the night. Rosa was good and game like I expected, but Rodriguez is the first TUF Latin America guy who looks like he can stick around and even make a run at the top 10 at feather. He simply looked amazing, which I'm pretty sure shocked a lot of people.

Kelvin v Marquardt really saved me with the stoppage - that was clearly a good bet (both the moneyline and the KO prop at +225), as was Torres by decision at +110.

I disagree that Cain looked the same as always. Cardio Cain was not Cardio Cain, he won the first round on every media scorecard I've seen yet by the end of the round you could tell he was fading, looked sloppy, had no power on his punches, lost ALL head movement, and was beginning to lose in the clinch. That's exactly the opposite of what I've come to expect of Cain, and I blame the elevation. If you think I'm just making excuses for the guy because I picked him, I don't blame you, but you'd be wrong.

I was completely wrong in thinking that the elevation would play into Cain's strengths - his cardio namely, because Werdum clearly responded much better to it which in retrospect should have been predictable since he'd been staying there and training there for 2 months.

I still think that if Cain managed to stay healthy and ever looks like his old self (whether it was ring rust - which I don't buy, or coming to train in the elevation last minute - which I do buy) - he'll still be a favorite in my mind in any heavyweight fight. I do not think he deserves an immediate rematch obviously and it would be a stupid move to make it.

On the bright side, Heavyweight is kind of exciting again. I've thought about a lot about the match-ups and no matter how you do it, someone gets left out / fucked.

ROFL. God you gotta love Nate. Spices it up.

I actually favor Diaz over Alvarez in a 5-round fight.

As far as Pettis, Diaz is kidding himself, Pettis would beat the fuck out of him an overwhelming majority of the time, terrible style matchup.

Cain might have been winning round 1 on the scorecards technically or something but Cain def took more damage in round 1 and ate much harder strikes. Might not have been phased just off the cardio and gassing but also from taking damage to his domepiece

Yes. I believe he is making a comparison because Munoz wasn't born in the Philipines.

God Damn. Promo's for 189 so good. And the entire card is fire. Gonna be at the MGM. Stoked. Prolly gonna be some good Irish vs Brazilian street-scraps to watch too.

Also a well-made amateur promo for Rockhold Weidman

Werdum still keeps his chin up and doesn't move his head much, JDS or Overeem could be champ soon because of it.

We have now sunk to a depth at which restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men.

He's super durable though, throws a ton of volume, and has way better fight IQ and cardio than both of those guys. And lettuce not act like either of those men are hard to hit either.

Werdum is definitely very beatable though and either could win.

I was in vacantion in Cuba with my GF so i only put one bet on this card.

Werdum ML.
I didn't put a lot because of all the talk but i should have put more.

+385, with cain's ring rust, altitude, and it being heavyweight, was a really good line imo

Easy to say after fight tho xD

james9994: make note dont play against floofy, ;(

My final bets:

10 $ Cain by KO/TKO -147
10 $ Cain/Werdum u2.5 +100
10 $ Cain + Melendez -108
3 $ Yair Rodriguez +160

I decided not betting on Pendred only because the fight is on Mexico.

I won the Yair Rodriguez and the u2.5 bets, but I am confused because I thought that meant if it got to round 3 I lose. I think it depends of the site you bet? : S?

Was on vacation for a few weeks and didn't keep up with anything. Came back and just now watched this, holy shit what a feel good fight. Werdum is such a perfect champion, trilingual, exciting, and sick personality.

Hm.. Off-suite socks..
