Is Macau good place pokerwise?

Will go there in two weeks. Please post any advice and your reviews about living and esp. playing poker.

havent been there in a long time but ive heard pretty consitently that its very hit or miss. starworld and wynn use to be the places to play but dunno now.

I was there a few years ago and I liked grand lisboa they had a very big poker room with many smallstakes tables running

I've never been but I heard the rake was kind of big. Anyone know?

its been a while for me but...

2-300 HKD (~15-24$ USD) rake at 2/5+ equivalent limits iirc

tipping culture in china doesnt exist, in casinos it does a little bit but not a big deal if you dont do it

if you shop around or know someone already in macau who can hook you up you can stay in a nice hotel for about 1-1.5k HKD / night (75-125$)

games are shit reg infested until they are not and then they are amazing, going on a major holiday, especially a chinese one helps game quality a lot - if you go that route book well in advance and plan to wake up at a time when the game is just starting or isnt full (morning) otherwise getting a seat will be hard

all in all i think it's still good enough for higher stakes (>100-200 HKD / 15-30 USD) but you get rake fucked in not the greatest games at lower stakes
