How much does it cost to create a site like runitonce? How hard is it to build? I'm trying to gather more information because I want to hire someone to build it and I don't want to get ripped off. Thanks for the help.

might get more feedback for this question in 2+2 programming forum, you'll probably need to be more specific than 'build a site like runitonce' to get any kind of estimate though.

You talking about technical aspects and website like theirs or creating a complete business like theirs?

the site is amazingly responsive, dont know much about but i think it is using the lastest html5 stuff that can build sites like this, very simple yet very effective.

I'm sure you could get a crappy clone of their site up with a shopify theme and an open source forum install. Would cost you nothing if you did it yourself.

If you want to get everything built from scratch without a strong technical spec so let's say three iterations of updates. Maybe $100k. You want it hosted, scalable, secure, fast. Add another $100k. If you want someone dedicated to fixing bugs, maybe some QA, an admin to manage backups and monitor your servers, then you need a full-time team.
