Too bad you don't play in the $250k and $275k and $300k guaranteed events on DraftKings. Only $3 entry, and they have these events all the time. #19th place in the $250k guaranteed event would've won you $500.

I compared the scores I think in that one since more people enter I was only gonna get in the 300-500s, maybe worse

There's a "$500k guaranteed super sharpshooter" event on DraftKings this Wednesday (December 16th). Only costs $3 to enter. iirc, this is the largest event they've had in December, at least for a $3 entry.

1st $100,000.00
2nd $40,000.00
3rd $20,000.00
4th $10,000.00
5th $7,500.00
6th $5,000.00
7th $2,500.00
8th $1,500.00
9th - 10th $1,000.00

Top 40,870 people/teams get paid.

Welp, tonight didn't go as well as I thought it would. I put some good research into two of my three teams, and it didn't pay off. Seems like half of my guys had an off-night. Some of my reads were spot on, and I got some good results out of guys who were either really cheap or guys who were in the $6k range and did well. But in the end, it didn't matter much.

Anyway, I min-cashed in 1 team, so I only lost -$4 for the day. Better than nothing, I guess...

Place has been pretty head. I'm assuming everyone still plays. Anyone care to share any recent results? Game Theory, etc? Just started turning some profits in basketball.. Mainly becuase Im still learning the sport, and just would play afew gpp's here and there, and didn't want to start playing cash or anything until I had a decent grasp on it. I'm getting pretty decent results as of late. Anyways, just thought I'd give this thread a bump and see how everyone else is doing.

I'm a newb when it comes to NBA fantasy, but I still play it often (not as much as UFC fantasy, obv).

I've found that my best results come earlier in the week, between Monday and Thursday. I don't have any stats, but it seems like top players gain more points earlier in the week, while lesser skilled players do well later in the week. I'm probably wrong, but it's just my fact-less opinion.

DFS reminds me a lot of how poker was in the beginning, maybe not as soft, but still money to be made. I think with a bit more research, you could finding yourself making some decent profits. Biggest thing is just playing more 50/50's & H2H's to balance out the huge swings that GPP's have.

I just started playing basketball this year, dabbled in it a few times last year, but had really no desire to do any homework, or really learn anything and was just gambling for the most part.

There are so many useful DFS sites out there, with a lot of useful information. I will say though, that I tend to discard a decent amount of information that 'pros' give out due to the fact that I don't entirely trust them. I used to just go off what they said, and had no reason why I was picking some of the players I was picking other than 'this guy said hes could go off'. Now that I've been doing my homework, and applied a little bit of common sense, it seems as if the profits are starting to come in pretty regularly.

I did UFC once, and although I used to be a big fan of UFC, I think I'll just stick to watching it and not bet on it. I think I'm just a little too biased to be effective making money at it.

As far as the top players doing well early on, and lesser skilled do better later on, I really haven't noticed that trend - partly because I haven't ever thought about it. I will say that there's a website out there I like to use that you can plug in so many different variables and it gives you past results on how those types of scenarios played out.

For anyone starting out with daily fantasy sports (and I mean proper noob level like me), I can really recommend the guide at dailylineups.com (they do require your email, but I haven't had any spam since). All the different games are explained, together with the differences between the most popular sites (as far as I know) draftkings and fanduel to get you started.

Also lineups are featured on the main page, which might be useful if you're just starting out. However, much like someone else mentioned before in this thread, I tend to prefer to use my own reasoning for making picks.

Keep safe

I feel like an apple.

Definitely true. Except it was a different landscape back then with poker with not nearly as much 'literature' out there online for the public to consume and try to at least somewhat close the gap with pros/grinders. The gap closed a lot slower than what's happening with DFS right now, especially a daily sport like the NBA. It's barely been any real time and 'cash games' all the way down to small buy-ins have already basically been taken over by grinders, even a bunch of 'em aren't truly sharps

iakim322   United States. Apr 02 2016 05:12. Posts 1335

I play DFS for NBA fairly often but in relatively small volume. Really mostly the small need to have something extra to sweat on basketball that I'm already paying attention to or watching at night. Definitely not under any pretense that someone like me is going to make real, non pocket change money off it even when I run good. Late season and playoff NBA is the most fun to watch for me besides a stacked UFC card anyways. Pretty much don't look at anything during the day but take like 20-25 min after work at 5:30 to look at a lineup site and plug shit in. Also spend a dollar or three to enter HU's vs a reg or two just to see how their lineup differed from mine sometimes. Tho I guess I don't care all the time and forget to even check their lineups afterwards sometimes

Maybe an unrelated hijack but as I've watched more NBA as the season comes to a close (and you tend to pay attention more little things when you play DFS obv), I get constantly reminded by something I heard Harabolous Voulgaris say on a Bill Simmons podcast. Something to the effect of how he's in awe of the fact that somehow, there's seemingly only like 12-15 people at a time in the entire country that are truly qualified to be an NBA head coach. Because apparently, the combination of being a good people person / natural leader of young men and actually being savvy to NBA game management stuff like timeout management, player rotations, and using analytics when appropriate is extremely fucking rare. Been watching Wizards games a lot recently because I'm from D.C and want them to make the playoffs but I mean...as far as I'm concerned, Randy Wittman is/has been making a mockery of common basketball sense

Bumpity bump bump bump..

NBA has started, NFL is nearing Mid-Season. Anyone crushing? Anyone want to discuss lineups? Interesting Game theory? I'm still a losing player.. Probably because I go a little too overboard with GPPs with 300k+ entries hoping to get it right one time.. Gonna start mixing in a lot more cash games, but I'm probably still really far behind the curve when it comes to NBA. (Maybe because I don't actually even like basketball?).

Min-cashed on Day 1. Most people with LeBron got in the money (I picked him).

Did shitty on Day 2 because Anthony Davis scored 99.5 points on DraftKings, so you needed him in your team to win any decent money (I didn't pick him).

I've been min-cashing in the NFL lately. Hoping to get lucky soon.

Edit: UFC returns on November 5, so a lot of my focus and funds will go back to that. We had 4 weeks off from UFC because one card got cancelled, so my attention went elsewhere. November 12 is the massive card in New York.

Edit #2: My NFL team from this past Sunday scored 205.92 points and looked like this:

Andy Dalton
DeMarco Murray
Jacquizz Rodgers
Mike Evans
A.J. Green
Mike Wallace
Jack Doyle
Brandon LaFell
Vikings

I bubbled day 1. Had LeBron/Love, but also had 1 player that got me 0, and another under 15. Which hurt.

Yesterday, kinda same story. Bubbled as well. Had Harden, but no Anthony Davis... Lost most cash games too and I had 283pts... I thought that was usually enough to win most, apparently not when Anthony Davis is the chalk and goes for 99.5

My Week 7 NFL Lineup:
QB P. Rivers 19.64
RB D. Johnson 28.1
RB D. Murray 24.7
WR J. Jones 29.4
WR G. Tate 15.3
WR M. Thomas 26
TE J. Doyle 22.8
FLEX J. Rodgers 20.3
DST Eagles 24
TOTAL FANTASY POINTS: 210.24

My 4 NBA teams for Friday, October 28:

PG Deron Williams
SG Bojan Bogdanovic
SF Kevin Durant
PF Myles Turner
C Enes Kanter
G Monta Ellis
F Harrison Barnes
UTIL Rodney Hood

PG Tim Frazier
SG Tyler Johnson
SF M. Kidd-Gilchrist
PF Anthony Davis
C Hassan Whiteside
G Kyle Lowry
F Bojan Bogdanovic
UTIL Seth Curry

PG Jordan Clarkson
SG Rodney Hood
SF Joe Johnson
PF Myles Turner
C Bismack Biyombo
G Bojan Bogdanovic
F Paul George
UTIL Hassan Whiteside

PG Tyler Johnson
SG Joe Johnson
SF Justise Winslow
PF Draymond Green
C Hassan Whiteside
G Kyle Lowry
F M. Kidd-Gilchrist
UTIL J. Valanciunas

----------

The Nets' coach started Lopez, even though Bogdanovic had a good showing in his last game. Bogdanovic was picked by 16.6% of the field, which is a lot. Anyone who picked him got fucked over cuz he only scored one basket before he was benched... ...FML.

And with the new NBA rules on DK, you can't edit your team after the first game starts. The Nets game started 30 minutes after the first game of the night, so everyone got fucked over...

I watched 3 NBA games tonight, and I didn't like what I saw. I'm going to avoid NBA on DraftKings until the NFL season is over.

NBA coaches are essentially trying different lineups out and benching people whenever they want. By the time the NFL season is over, the NBA season will have more consistency in their lineups, which will allow me to feel more confident in my DK teams and not waste anymore money due to randomness.

UFC is revving up to have an action-packed 2 months in November and December, so that only decreases my interest in NBA on DK right now.
