It was initially announced that the bout would be rescheduled for a future event, later in the summer of this year. Then, on March 9 it was announced that Dos Santos would remain on the card and face Mark Hunt.

• Velasquez > Silva (Interested to see how Silva can get back to his feet without blood in both eyes.)
• Hunt > Dos Santos (Dos Santos will look to test Hunt's take down defense, if he's smart. Also, Hunt is at a bigger disadvantage due to him only getting his work Visa 6 days prior to the event, which means he wasn't able to come to the states until now. His body may or may not acclimate well to the travel.)
• Teixeira > Te-Huna (Should be a good fight, one I'll save for live betting.)
• Grant > Maynard (I'm going heavy on Grant.)
• Noons > Cerrone (Cerrone has been all over the place in terms of where his head is at. Cerrone is the better overall fighter, but I can see Noons winning this if Cerrone only stands with him.)
• Story > Pyle
• Bermudez > Holloway
• Whittaker > Smith (Not 100% on this yet, due to Smith only strategy of holding you down, which he's good at.)
• Trujillo > Nurmagomedov (Nurmagomedov is the favorite for a reason, however, Trujillo looked beastly in his UFC debut, although it was vs. a lesser fighter.)
• Thompson > Burrell (Not 100% on this yet. Burrell will look to get Thompson down, but Thompson is the better fighter and proved he can take a beating. Burrell got owned vs. a lesser striker in Chris Spang.)
• Bowles > Roop (Bowles has been out for a long time after getting owned by Faber. Bowles is the safe bet here.)
• Stephens > Payan (Taking Stephens cuz he'll get the decision if it's close, however, I don't know much about Payan, so I'm betting small on this one. I might take Payan if he's a big dog.)

When has JDS ever pitter pattered anyone in the UFC?
There's a possibility for this fight going to a decision, however, most are expecting it to end ITD by KO/TKO. I'll bet the decision prop line if it's +800 or better.

I can see the fight going the way JDS vs Nelson went, or we can see JDS' ground game this time around considering Hunt is not the strongest grappler out there.

yea silva isnt stone dead in the sense that i wouldnt bet cain at -1000 (think -700 is my limit here) like i would in gsp vs shields, gsp vs diaz, gsp vs fitch, silva vs bonnar, jones vs sonnen, etc, but if cain loses he either got injured or fucked up really really really bad somehow cause bigfoot is way too slow to create an opportunity to win himself

Bigfoot is a live dog. The guy has proven that he can beat anyone. He doesn't get any credit for beating Overeem but he fought a good fight and pounced when he got his opportunity. If he can sweep or end up on top in a scramble, Cain could be in a lot of trouble. Bigfoot has a big size, strength, and BJJ advantage like he did against Fedor.

I'm really liking Hunt in taking this fight from JDS, I think JDS comes out on fire and Hunt weathers the storm before landing some big shots late in the second or third for a TKO.
We have now sunk to a depth at which restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men.

Travis Browne hurt himself in the fight vs Bigfoot, so can't take much from that. And Overeem is the most overrated fighter in MMA, and even thou he finished him impressively, you forget that he was getting his ass kicked for two rounds before. We've already seen the results of this fight twice before: Watch Bigfoot vs Cain 1 and Bigfoot vs Cormier (Cormier and Cain have very similar skills). Both were one sided beat downs. He is just too fucking big and too fucking slow, it's just a terrible match-up for him.
And I disagree with Daut here, Cain is easily -1000 or more. Unlike, GSP vs Shields, GSP vs Diaz, GSP vs Fitch, Silva vs Bonnar, or even Jones vs Sonnen fight, WE HAVE SEEN WHAT WILL HAPPEN ALREADY. AND WE'VE SEEN IT TWICE. Bigfoot has nothing to offer Cain here. It's really a retarded match-up. Don't believe the hype. Bigfoot is drawing dead.

not particularly sure why everyone says lol overrated, it's a fucking fight where anything can happen. Anyone can get knocked out or fuck up a position and lose. Reem made sloppy mistakes but he still was dominating, as per his skill level was defined.

^ JDS has stood and traded punches with all his other UFC opponents. Only two of them have been able to survive his onslaught, which were Shane Carwin and Roy Nelson. Both of those guys have the best chins in the heavyweight division and hit super hard. JDS ate both of their punches and was okay. (Carwin is now retired.)
It's possible for JDS to take Hunt down at some point, but he's not afraid to trade with a smaller, slower, weaker cardio fighter.
With all that being said, I'm still taking Hunt to win, even though he's a big underdog.

LOL you are too smart for this post Puertorican wtf.
Carwin and Nelson are mediocre strikers that throw telegraphed haymakers with everything they got, Mark Hunt is in a totally different level, he is no Peter Aerts but he has enough technique to easily put JDS to sleep any second and it would be extremely stupid for JDS to take such a ridiculous chance.

^ You're giving JDS the benefit of the doubt of not being a moron and not standing with Hunt the entire time.
My point is, I don't think he's smart, and him standing the entire time vs. Hunt wouldn't surprise me at all. Many people were expecting to see JDS uses his Nogueira BJJ black belt, but he apparently didn't find any time to use his BJJ skills during the 25 minutes of the fight, where he was on his back most of the time.
Overeem has some brains, in that he's stood with certain heavyweights and also took certain heavyweights down because he wants to take as little damage as possible. I don't think JDS is smart enough to do this, and if he does do it vs. Hunt, it will be the first time we've seen it in the UFC.

you do realize he stood back up after being taken down by cain 11 times while completely rocked and exhausted? that is the most effective way to use your jiu jitsu in mma when you are a striker facing an elite grappler
not to mention he took down carwin 2 times and roy nelson once. the other fights didnt last long enough for him to need to use his wrestling/ground skills

I like Struve a lot. But he's no JDS still in just stand up. Struve's got some of the best ground skills for a heavyweight and has gotten a lot better standing but he got flattened by Hunt because his stand up defense is still pretty shoddy...exponentially when he's gassed which he completely was in that third round vs Hunt

There's no big difference in striking between Carwin, Nelson, and Hunt. They are brawlers with big power and great chins. Carwin and Nelson probably have more ko power actually. JDS isn't going to stand there and trade punches, but he'll box and use his speed, movement, and technique like he always does.

I really like both JDS & Hunt. Despite Hunts credentials I think the stand up is fairly close. So I hope JDS ego gets in the way and they throw down striking and we get a great fight. No idea who wins an all striking bout.
Otherwise JDS goes the grapple route it should be fairly one sided. Though as said Hunto recently got his purple belt, so he should put up more resistance on the ground than most think... I hope anyways.

he probably read an article from Jack Slack, that says that Hunt is just a brawler with a heavy overhand right and a granite chin, that won the k1 GP just because he was lucky since he lost to Sefo and advanced
not that I agree with sleepyhead post, hunt is for sure much better striker than Carwin and Nelson, but JDS speed and technique is just too much for Hunt

A lot of people think that every mediocre K-1 guy is automatically a world class MMA striker regardless of how they fight or what they have shown in their MMA fights. It doesn't work that way though!
Hunt is great and I love to watch him fight but
1. He's not a better MMA striker than Carwin or Nelson
2. JDS is better than him everywhere
3. I'm going to be proven right tomorrow night because this fight is going to go just like JDS/Nelson and JDS/Carwin

I bet at 5dimes, however, an hour after I placed that +4000 on JDS, the bookie sent out emails saying they made a line error; it should have been +400 instead of +4000, so they canceled it.

Cormier has said he wants the winner of Big Nog vs Werdum.
After tonights card we should have some clarity in the HW division.
If the UFC decides to put on an all HW card in like 3-4 months it could beastly.
Cain - JDS main
Cormier - Werdum co-main (winner gets a title shot)
Bigfoot - Hunt
Overeem - Nelson
Mir - Barnett
That would be fucking awesome. A lot of things have to go right for that card but man would it be epic.

What's with Whittaker's guard, that isn't a boxing guard right?
EDIT: Kind of want to read more about it if anyone has anything. Idk if it has a name, obviously plenty of people use it.

Round 1 was all Holloway.
Round 2 was close, but Dennis pushed the pace in round 2 and kept being active, while Holloway was slowing down. There was a take down in round 2 as well, even though not much happened with it.
Round 3 was all Dennis, while Holloway was gassed and well... You saw what happened in that round.
Edit: When you're the aggressor and are the one coming forward, the judges notice that a lot. I think if we count up the total punches, Holloway landed more though.

pyles sorta winning off his back and gets round two. hollaways sorta winning off his back and losses round two hum. Feel like the judges are just judging the whole fight not the rounds.
Last two fights reminded me of a gameshow where the first two rounds were 10 points and round 3 as 5 million

Pretty okay card. I felt very back and forth with a lot of fights on the card, was only really sure with Cain vs Silva (I mean come on... he landed 3 counter punches to finish it before Silva even got off his full punch. #FightingintheMatrix). Was leaning towards betting Mark Hunt, but thought the line was about right due to his cardio fail, and almost bet Maynard, but watched some TJ Grant fights and felt like line was about right there as well. Bet on Glover winning by decision... but fail, he was fucking sick tonight

The funny thing is that you actually think what you were saying made sense because JDS won. Everyone disagreeing with you also thought JDS was going to win. If you watch that fight and not realize how far ahead Hunt's striking is of Carwin and Nelson I don't know what to tell you.
On May 20 2013 12:59 SleepyHead wrote:
Bigfoot is a live dog. The guy has proven that he can beat anyone. He doesn't get any credit for beating Overeem but he fought a good fight and pounced when he got his opportunity. If he can sweep or end up on top in a scramble, Cain could be in a lot of trouble. Bigfoot has a big size, strength, and BJJ advantage like he did against Fedor.

Brittany Palmer got some work done...
Her teeth are the major change. Her face is noticeably slimmer, however, it's her big white teeth that make her look weird. Looks like she got new teeth instead of just a teeth whitening.
Now, the usual disclaimer: The figures do not include deductions for items such as insurance, licenses and taxes. Additionally, the figures do not include money paid by sponsors, which can oftentimes be a substantial portion of a fighter's income. They also do not include any other "locker room" or special discretionary bonuses the UFC oftentimes pays. They also do not include portions of the pay-per-view revenue that some top-level fighters receive.
For example, as previously reported, UFC officials handed out additional $50,000 UFC 160 bonuses to Grant ("KO of the Night"), Teixeira ("Submission of the Night"), and dos Santos and Hunt ("Fight of the Night").
In other words, the above figures are simply base salaries reported to the commission and do not reflect entire compensation packages for the event.

I don't remember if Hunt was getting that much during his 4 fight win streak, but either way it's sick because the UFC offered to buy out his contract after they bought PRIDE, which meant Hunt could have been paid for the remaining fights on his contract and not had to fight, but he said fuck that and decided to earn his money.

Hunt's situation was a clear freeroll. The only possible downside was an injury.
