----------

• Mousasi > Gustafsson (Just fading Gustafsson, as I see many flaws in his game and he will get crushed vs. Jones, which is the prize for the winner of this fight. Mousasi has stayed at +215 odds for awhile now, and he'll probably get better odds since he's not as known in the USA/UFC.)

• Pearon > Couture (I put some money on Couture at +350. Pearson should win but Couture has the better grappling and fights from the outside, while Pearson is a boxer who fights best from the inside and also leaps in to throw a big hook-punch to close the distance. Couture's striking looked improved in his fight vs. KJ Noons, in which Noons was robbed by the judges.)

• Mitrione > De Fries (De Fries just sucks, he is good at BJJ but nothing else. Mitrione will pick him apart from a distance with multiple jabs, making him look way better than he is at boxing, then come in with a hard punch to knock De Fries to the floor and then get the TKO. De Fries only chance of getting it to the ground is via trip, but Mitrione will be separating and keeping the distance if he's smart.)

• Pickett > Easton (I don't think Pickett will get the KO/TKO, but I do think he'll win by decision. My only worry is that Easton is the much better striker, while Pickett is a showman who only throws heat and can get out-worked and possibly TKO`ed by Easton. I'm picking the safe bet and going against the black guy via decision in Sweden.)

• Garza > Brandao (I'm still not sure about this yet. Brandao has power, and I'm not worried about his cardio anymore like some people are. I think Garza will use his massive height and reach to keep the fight at a distance and he'll easily be able to jab and micro his way out of Brandao's nubby-arm punches and kicks. I'm also giving the BJJ edge to Garza in this fight. If both guys were around the same height, I'd favor Brandao.)

• Peralta > Corassani (Corassani's only chance is to get on his bicycle and hope for a decision robbery, since he's fighting in his home country. Otherwise, Peralta should smash this fucker eZ pZ.)

• Johnson > Medadi (I'm hoping Johnson doesn't let himself get grapple-fucked like he did vs. Myles Jury, cuz that was so weird. Johnson has a wrestling background and looked like a fish out of water on his back. Jury did barely any damage, but he had top-control for the entire fight. Medadi is trash, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a decision go his way.)

• Troeng vs. Cella (No idea. I'll be going with Troeng, since he's from Sweden.)

• Spang vs. Amagov (Still not sure. Spang will win if it goes to a decision, but he's also overrated by some people who think he has amazing boxing. I need to watch some more tape on Amagov, I only remember him from that dumb fight vs. Lawler in Strikeforce.)

• Brimage > McGregor (I got Brimage at +160, and his line will probably go back up after more hype comes out for McGregor, especially after the weigh-ins. I'm looking to go big on Brimage, just waiting to see his line go back up.)

• Alloway vs. LaFlare (No Idea. I'll pick LaFlare cuz he's fighting an Australian.)

• Lawlor > Kuiper (Not sold on Kuiper, and Lawlor has some skills, despite his shitty record.)

• Yousef > Abedi (No clue on Yousef, just picking him to fade Abedi.)

Mousasi > Gustafsson. I like Mousasi @ +215. This is an excellent match-up for his style, and he'll figure to have the advantage on the feet.

Alexander Gustafsson cut in training (eyebrow), leaves UFC on Fuel 9 headliner in jeopardy.
http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2013/3/31/...aining-leaves-ufc-on-fuel-9-headliner

It basically comes down to how bad the cut is, and whether he will get licensed by whoever the committee is.

Damn and it will be very difficult to find a replacement

DustySwedeDude   Sweden. Mar 31 2013 18:03. Posts 8623

Apparently it's very unlikely that they'll allow him to fight.

It kinda sucks but if they can get a decent replacement I'd be ok with it. I love both Mousasi and Gustafsson and I'd prefer it if they fucked other ppl up so that both guys can get title shots.

The following is a copy/paste from somebody at Sherdog:

So all the talk about the show being a sell out is obviously bs. There are still tickets to buy at the official retailer Ticnet. There are obviously loads of scalpers selling ticket at various sites, and a lot of people with extra tickets trying to sell them at for example Blocket (Sweden's Craigslist). I myself have been trying to get rid of two tickets at a discounted price for a week without success...

And now the UFC is dumping prices on the tickets they have left. At a "deal site" in Sweden they're letting tickets go at 57 % discount. First people thought it was scalpers trying to minimize losses, but as it turns out it's the UFC themselves dumping tickets they can't sell. This is comfirmed by MMAnytt.se

So would do you make of this? Coming to Sweden with a no name card, jacking up the prices since last year, and then dumping the prices when all the loyal fans have bought tickets. Incredibly stupid marketing strategy imo. Won't buy tickets if UFC ever comes back to Sweden...

Gustafsson is out. All bets on Gustafsson at 5dimes have been refunded.

"The SMMAF Medical Committee has today reviewed the circumstances regarding Gustafsson and his injury," a statement read. "The SMMAF Medical Committee recognizes that a competitor cannot be medically cleared earlier than the day before the match.

"However, bearing in mind that a correct medical examination that met the regulatory demands has been performed, nothing in the SMMAF regulations hinders the SMMAF Medical Committee from making a decision to stop Gustafsson from competing. As it is clear that Alexander Gustafsson will not be fit to compete as planned and cannot be medically cleared on Friday the 5th of April, the SMMAF Medical Committee has today decided that Alexander Gustafsson will not be allowed to participate in the planned match."

How was it going to be finished? Both have iron chins. Mousasi has never been finished by strikes in 36 MMA fights and 5 professional kickboxing bouts, two of which against high level k-1 guys. Gus also showed off his granite chin against Shogun, eating Shoguns best punches and not even flinching. Add to that Mousasi isn't really a huge hitter, especially in MMA.

Both are actually reasonably passive strikers in MMA. Gus has been using a lot of movement and his range recently, staying on the outside not being overly aggressive. And Mousasi is a slow stalker who uses leg kicks and is very patient.

Both guys have good sub defense and neither is amazing on the ground. I have a hard time seeing either one sub each other.

Obviously anything can happen in MMA, but I really didn't see either guy finishing the other.

^ I posted my early thoughts on this event on page 1. I'm gonna post my bets on Saturday, before UFC starts.

There's 3 other MMA events before this UFC card, so I'm focused on those first. The first one being tomorrow's Bellator card, where* there's some good money to be made. I made threads for the other MMA cards, but I'm probably the only MMA hardcore person at LP that will watch them all live.

If those are the odds I might actually bet on the new Swede. While he's no where near Mousasi in overall skill, would probably get beat standing even if Mousasi had one arm broken, and might be a worse overall submission grappler (which I'm not 100% sure about) he's a strong wrestler and it's 3 rounds. Not sure yet.

Oh, and I've got tickets and I'm pissed.

Really glad about my bets on Peralta and Laflair, lines are going down a lot on them.

The lines seems to move a lot on this event. It's kind of weird. Might do some more bets closer to fight night.

Also why the fuck would they not be ok with clearing Alex for this fight considering how he looks now? Someone must've fucked up pretty bad.

Stim_Abuser   United States. Apr 03 2013 18:07. Posts 7499

I mean the cut is probably stitched shut at that point. Photos can play tricks as well.

A cut like that doesn't heal in a week. Also it is in about as bad of a place as you can get. Whether you can see it in the other pic or not, 1 jab from Mousasi and Gus is bleeding into his eyes.

It does seem strange you can't see the cut at all though.

Hey Im slinging mad volume and fat stackin benjies I dont got time for spellin n shit - skinny pete

PuertoRican   United States. Apr 03 2013 18:37. Posts 13257

If you look really closely, you can see the rigidness of where the cut is after it is stitched.

I don't know how cuts work, but I'd imagine that the stitches are keeping the skin together, and the knot/stitch of thread can come undone if he gets hit with a couple shots in that area.

Either way, Gustafsson was definitely training to hard 1 week before his fight. He even has a bruise below his eye...

Oh Unanimous decision. Wow it has him at +1100 for decision, +3k for unanimous decision.

That seems crazy, but I kind of felt like if Latifa won it'd be super close and probably a split decision. Predicting splits, Cosmo style.

It's worth a shot, depending how much of a bankroll you have.

For example, if you put $5 on Latifi to win by 3 unanimous decision, you get $157.50 in return.

I have Mousasi in small parlays, so laying a few bucks on Latifi isn't too bad.

I think it could have been more eloquently stated. I agree with Mitrione's comments as a whole I think calling her a sociopath was overboard. However, I believe he should have received a slap on the wrist or some sort of public apology not a suspension.

PuertoRican   United States. Apr 08 2013 20:53. Posts 13257

I agree with everything Mitrione said, but he's an idiot for saying it out in public like that when he's in the public position he's in.

I haven't seen any specific length of time being given to Mitrione for this matter, so hopefully it's 6 months or less. If it's only a 3-4 months suspension, then that's basically not a punishment at all, aside from him having to do stuff he won't want to do during that time, like doing community service for the trans gender community.

I want to see Mitrione vs. Schaub next.

I definitely think she shouldn't be allowed to fight woman because there should still be physical advantages remaining. I believe most major sports don't allow this at all. I'm sure most remember the athletic drama with the female runner that was accused of being a man. If she did sign up as a female without uncovering her past then that is horrible.

That said though Mitriones comments go way further than an athletic basis. The total message he is sending out is pretty messed up. There is absolutely no need to refer to her the way he does. She is a female that shouldn't be allowed to fight because she used to be a male. To continuously refer to her as "he" is nothing but insulting and transphobic.

Lets face it Mitrione isn't too bright. I guess he basically sees the issue as a dude beating up chicks in his brain and finds it a sick act.

According to the Sports Illustrated article she has no strength advantage. I find the career choice pretty bizarre to be honest.

Most people commenting on Fox's abilities, or lack there of, probably haven't seen him fight before. He fucking destroyed two chicks in a couple fights I've seen.

Cyborg needs to step up and beat his ass and end this whole thing once and for all.

Don't transgender male>female lose their testicles? If so, that's a massive drop in testosterone.

Also, 90%~ of UFC fighters juice anyways, even the women are using PEDs. Have you guys seen Cyborg?

Also don't call them tranny coz that's offensive. Should be transgender woman or man.

I don't really give a shit about this issue but it amazes me how many experts there are all of sudden on this complicated issue that base their opinions on nothing but their own thoughts and feelings.

This athlete couldn't even qualify where a man should have a significant edge:

I guess everyone here has forgotten Caster Semenya? No woman could run that fast surely? Fucking idiots.
