I had a friend that didnt like it after episode 1 either... After episode 3 he was hooked.

And every time a new episode was out to be download he started to call me in the middle of the night about it : D

you guys are missing rainkhans question. Just calling it the best show you've watched doesn't mean that much unless you know he has similar taste to you. You must analyze the people you know who disliked it after 1 episode but then continued watching it.

And disliking a show, after just 1 episode? makes no sense, you know nothing about the history or characters, its just an introductory episode (if it was the first) that obviously is not going to be that strong, you need to see half the season at least, imo.

i also think the slow pace of GoT is unbearable. it's better when it's on dvd so you can watch all the shows together. there's too many story lines and characters being introduced. thought season 1 was overwhelming to someone who wasn't familiar with the books.

Well there are many shows whom I like... breaking bad, 24, boardwalk empire, sopranos, entourage +++++++++ but game of thrones is the only show where I will sit ready to download the second a new episode comes out... so definitly my favourite show and nr 2 on my personal list is not even close. But its ofc IMO

Started rewatching seasons 1 and 2 to get ready again, planned on spreading it over slowly out the next 5 weeks, but found myself mid way into season 2 a day later...

Can't wait for the show to start again. Not sure what I think about the books after reading all of them. I think the story as a whole is fabulous, but could be a bit more concise at times. I like how George R. R. Martin just doesn't give a fuck, though some people dislike that in his books.
