Hmm yes thats a pretty big plot-changer no? Her staying alive bearing his child in the book felt like it had a pretty big meaning to it, and here in the series he kills her of like its nothing. I'm confused!

The spell probably has some area of effect, and maybe the players who gets their mind attempted at a take over gets to roll a will or some kind of fortutide check, so maybe doesn't work on powerful characters. And maybe he needs to be close by to control them properly. Oh, maybe some risk to the user if whatever he controls take damage.

I think that Crow Stark guy just rode off to stop the bird or something.

Just like 3 minutes before he dies in the show, jojen tells Bran that him warging into Hodor, a super simple minded human, is super impressive and that Bran is the only person in the world who could do such a thing.
