I love how they present Crassus - it finally looks like there is an decent villain. That scene in the first episode where he fights off his gladiator-slave and offers him freedom if he can kill him was good.
I like how they're blurring the line between good guy and bad guy. If you just starting watching now and didn't know the title of the show you might think that Crassus was the hero.

I'm bad in history, but I know Crassus was closely related to Caesar - he was his patron and sponsor. Don't know if Caesar participated in any battle against Spartacus' rebels tho

Caesar def wasn't involved in the Spartacus stuff, can't remember what he was doing at the time though (lose track of my history post-Sulla pre 59bc). Probably still in the army in Greece?

I think Agron's treatment was much worse. They just completely dismissed his relationship with that one dude. He was Spartacus's right hand man since season 2, and Spartacus didn't even try to convince him to not go with Crixus and just let him march off to his death. And then he got slashed once in the back and just flopped to the ground and died.

yea Agron's death is even more gay. But Agron is in my opinion a character not as important as Crixus. Crixus is one of the most important char of the show since he's the only one who's been in every seasons, and has done some of the biggest accomplishments. Andy Whitfield at the end was fantastic. I'd love to see that closing sequence without the credits. I need to watch the pilot again to remember what his wife said about the red snake. The rain when Spartacus died was great. So good. So many great characters in this show.

Tbh Crixus's speech and death were far more epic then Spartacus. I liked the ending anyway, very decent and I'm happy they didn't butcher the series by poor ending The only thing I didn't like was the flashbacks of his wife when he got speared.

Only on episode 4 at the moment but this season is my favorite so far. The story is SO much better. Possible loop holes are dealt with before forming. Lots of foreshadowing. The cunning of the main protagonist, Marcus Crassius, is just a huge refreshment from seeing other predictable, dumb villains. He's a badass actor, too.

I feel almost the exact opposite.
Storylines in the first 2 seasons were really nice
Lots of interesting caracters with their own in depth plots.
Batiatus , Spartacus , Ashur , Crixus all had very different and intersting stories that somehow connected at one point
Also Lucretia and Ilithyia the two grils who always made their poisend conspiracies in the back.
I really loved Blood and Sand + Gods of the Arena
Those 2 were great in so many ways

I don't remember much about the first two seasons except that Batiatus wanted a title from his wife's father or some shit through his wins in the arena.
This season, I appreciated the small logistical shit like how Spartacus needed to feed and shelter his army. Crassus was amazing as a cunning and deceitful leader, and a very good actor, IMO. Spartacus' final rampage was sick as fuuuuuuuuuuuckkkk. He looked like a possessed man going through Crassus' men. Really liked the ending and music but like Daut said, Crixus' death was a lot more hard-hitting and emotional.
