I was rooting for Chael but unlike many sportsmen he gives awesome post match interviews. The one after the first fight kind of reminds me of Roddick in 2007 after losing in the semifinal i think to Federer where he got outplayed almost to the point of humiliation.

Anderson went back up another notch in my book right after the fight but during the post fight conference he said he would fight his clone. It's stupid shit like that and his inability to actually answer any interview questions directly that cause him to not actually be revered as a GOAT should be revered.

So Sonnen doesn't want to make excuses, doesn't mean it wasn't a god-awful stoppage... esp considering the circumstances. Pretty sure in the Franklin v W. Silva fight a couple weeks ago, Franklin was atleast, probably more, dazed and confused than Sonnen.... and he ended up winning an epic fight .... should such a fight would of happened at this level, it would of been HUGE for the UFC. If you were in Chael's position, intelligently defending yourself absolutely dictates covering up and and waiting for the best possible split second to burst... not saying he would of and chances are > 50 percent the fight was over either way.... but given the hype and importance, that stoppage was a fucking joke, end of story.

is it just me, or everytime anderson gets a clean shot (which happens a lot obv) the fight is gonna get stopped almost instantly. Some fights come to mind, carwin vs lesnar, maybe the 1st between sonnen and silva when sonnen had his back, lesnar vs mir 2 or carwin vs mir i forget where either the fights werent stopped or stopped soon enuff.

yeah stoppage was silly. clearly Sonnen was a bit dazed but cmon, after all the shit talking he clearly deserves a knockout loss. now that sonnen lost, expect him to lose some more to a lot of other fighters, hes pretty overrated and alot of people gave way too much credit after the first fight. he needs a rematch with michael bisping for sure.

This is a sport with clear rules - the referee stops the bout when it is over. The bout was over. You are sadists.

There's a very clear line between reveling in the skill and athleticism of the fighters
