Team Cruz: Myles Jury, Jeremy Larsen, Justin Lawrence, Mike Rio, Sam Sicilia, Chris Tickle, James Vick, Vinc Pichel Team Faber: Michael Chiesa, John Cofer, Daron Cruickshank, Al Iaquinta, Cristiano Marcello, Andy Ogle, Joe Proctor, Chris Saunders
- Originally meant to be a season of Lightweights and Welterweights, TUF 15 will now feature only Lightweights.
- The Ultimate Fighter 15 (also known as The Ultimate Fighter: LIVE) is the fifteenth installment of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC)-produced reality television series The Ultimate Fighter. This season will mark the show's debut on the FX network as well as the debut of Jon Anik as the show's host.
- As part of the deal with FX, the show will undergo a revamp. Prior to season fifteen the show was shot in six weeks, edited and aired several months after filming was completed. Beginning with this season the show will be shot over thirteen weeks and edited "the week of" before being broadcast. In addition season fifteen will be the first to feature live fights.
- The UFC and FX held open tryouts on December 5, 2011, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The casting call went out for Lightweight and Welterweight fighters. Some of the fighters that showed up for the tryouts included UFC veteran Jamie Yager, WEC veteran Blas Avena, and Bellator veterans Rudy Bears, Zak Cummings, and Jacob McClintock, and K-1 kickboxer Kultar Gill.
- On December 6, 2011, it was announced that the coaches for the season would be Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber. They are currently two of the top bantamweight division fighters and are set to fight for the title as part of the TUF 15 finale on July of 2012. It will debut on March 9th, 2012.

I can only name one openly gay MMA fighter, and considering hes 12-14 overall in shitty promotions, he wont come anywhere close to making the UFC.
with all the close body contact involved in MMA, I think it will be very interesting to see how fighters react to someone who they believe is gay. dakota cochrane actually isnt gay, he just said he got paid a lot of money to do it (80k). regardless if they find out he will be treated as if he was gay, and fighters as well known as big nog have said they wouldnt train with a gay fighter because it made them uncomfortable. id imagine the average tuf contestant is fairly homophobic, and being in a house with 16 testosterone filled males may only increase that.
i dont give a shit what someone did in their past as long as it wasnt something fucked up like rape or pedophilia. everyone makes mistakes, and he made his and I dont think he should pay for it for life or be ridiculed forever for it. but if you aren't at least curious to see how that plays out then I guess you are immune to the charms of senseless drama. me? im hoping for some anything to make TUF at least watchable, because its been pretty fucking bad the last 3-4 years

Any drama is good drama, but it will be pretty sad if all 31 fighters know someone on the show is gay and don't want to practice with him because of it. I remember seeing a clip of the season where Matt Hamill was on, and there was one fighter making jokes at the expense of Hamill because he's deaf.
There's been some pretty fruity guys on that show who weren't gay, like Stripper Ramsey for instance, and after a couple weeks in the house they all turn a little gay it seems.
The usual length of The Ultimate Fighter is 6 weeks, this season will be 13 weeks long.
While the fights are live, there might be some parts of the show that aren't, like when they're doing dumb shit inside the team house. UFC keeps making a point out of saying "the fights are live", instead of "the whole show is live". The fights are only 20-25 minutes of the actual show.

I'm just bitter I didn't get picked for the last set of HWs because they wanted to add a few more ex-football guys who gas in the first round and made the show so bad we might not ever see a HW season again...

Other "TUF: Live" format details include:
- The fighters are already aware of their matchups for Friday's opener (however, they won't be released publicly). The matchups also will be announced for the following week's episode so UFC officials have a full week to publicize the fight and the fighters.
- Although officials initially suggested that fans may get to vote to determine the matchups, that no longer will be the case, White said.
- Despite the live fights, there will be no fight broadcasters. UFC commentator Jon Anik will serve as a weekly host with White and will introduce that week's episode. However, once it's fight time, the sounds of the gym and the fight will take over the show while void of commentary.
- White will be involved in every episode. That means for UFC on FUEL TV 2 in Sweden, he'll be in Las Vegas for "TUF: Live" on Friday, hop on a jet that night, land in Stockholm, watch the fights, and then be back on the plane to Vegas five hours later.
- The fighters will, in fact, be cut off from the outside world for 13 weeks rather than the usual six. He said the usual restrictions (no phones, computers, personal calls, outside trips, etc.) will remain in place.
- The show editing will now be done on site. The editing of the show used to be outsourced, but with the need to package the show quickly and include footage that's sometimes just hours old, everything has moved to Las Vegas.
- The fighters will have no access to social media while on the show. While it would have marketing/promotional benefits, White convinced fellow co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta to nix any of the fighters' Twitter and Facebook use this season. However, White said he'll evaluate this season and may reconsider it for "TUF: Live 2."
- It's okay if UFC related lived shows go 5/10/15/ minutes over the scheduled time, FOX is a sports company and allows it.

Marcello looked good, that guy "from hell" looked decent but probably not great. That Sam Scicilian or w/e seems to hit really hard.
That brit Glover or something is a really fun fighter with really bad wrestling. If he had a sick guard he'd be Aloe Vera. Cofer seems fairly boring control wrestler.
Hackett vs redhead was fun but I don't think they were very good either one of them. Fucking up a guillotine (or 3) like that doesn't seem like a really smart move and Hackett didn't do shit. Hackett had shit conditioning too.
The gay porn guy said he had "worked his butt off"
God Damn Karate kid Lawrence with his 150 amature fights looked awesome. Made Krausse look like a nobody.

Yeah, I was sad when James Krause lost. I had watched a few of his fights from Titan Fighting Championship, and thought he would do well in the future.
I think that telling the fighters it would be a 1 round, 5 minutes long match, really threw some of the players off a bit from their game plan.
Wrestlers got to excel, while BJJ and strikers got put on their backs.
This first episode didn't look as good as season 14's first episode, but I'll watch this season anyway.

The guy was in the process of dropping when the knee was thrown, he wasn't already grounded, so it was okay.
Cristiano Marcello is my pick to win it all in convincing fashion.

In his win at UFC 63 he said that during the fight he prayed to god which made him win.

If this is the production quality they can deliver on live then I'd rather go back to the old setting. Watching the fights live with no audience noises and no commentary was really boring the hell out of me. I'd also rather not have any sound at all than listening in on normal conversations between Faber/Cruz/White. Whenever they switched the camera to White to be the host it was terrible and everything was just so bad about it.

I feel the real issue with the first episode in this regard was these guys weren't picked on teams yet, so no one spoke up to coach them, all following weeks you have teammates/coaches shouting instructions which should improve the production feel. Also bringing in a commentary team could be an option to try out at some point, but I would rather hear their corners than commentary.

What's I've heard the most of was, Krazy horse was sharing the locker room with the Chuteboxe. He started insulting them and their nationality. Marcello was chosen to fight him.
Krazy horse made all kinda of rumours after that, and that's why they posted the video.
What really happened, I don't know.

Was the gamble a good one? I think it's more than "a bit" of a gamble especially for a speculative morale boost. But you could argue they might meet later anyway and along the way Lawrence might not be 100% etc (obvsiously applies to Marcello as well). It goes either way but I think taking this chance so early has more negatives associated with it than any positives that may or may not materialise.
A bold move either way I think and the silence when Faber asked his team was pretty telling (but then again why would an individual gamble).

Marcello's BJJ may be good, but god damn, his stand up is the worst that I've seen in a long time, probably in the top 3 worst stand ups I've ever seen.
Justin Lawrence looked nervous, he was hungry to win during his fight to get into the house.

It's like saying if there wasn't take downs boxers would win everything with superior striking. In theory it's because if you are striking while having to worry about take downs vs a world class BJJ blackbelt and I am just striking my striking doesn't have to be as good as yours too win since I can over extend at will because I want you to try and take me down.

Finally something interesting happened on an episode of this seasons TUF.
Since Dominic Cruz tore his ACL, a replacement fighter was announced at the end of tonight's TUF event.
Urijah Faber will now face Renan Barao at UFC 148 in a 3 round fight. This match will serve as the co-main event, in which Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen is the headliner.
Faber vs. Barao will be for the interim title.
----------
Urijah Faber
Age: 33 (birthday was 4 days ago)
Height: 5'6
Reach: 69 inch
Record: 26-5 (7 KO/TK, 14 Submission, 4 Decision, 1 DQ)
