Tate was partially right in her pre-fight video when she said wrestlers have the edge over judo fighters.
Top judo fighters have super strong cores and almost never get taken down in MMA, there's just so top judo fighters in MMA right now so it's hard to compare.
Top judo fighters in MMA have been Yoshihiro Akiyama, Ronda Rousey, Karo Parisian, Manny Gamburyian.
Ronda has Judo Gene LaBell in her corner for all her fights~

^ I have no proof, just giving my opinion. I think it's one of those skills that it all depends on who is the person using it.
How I look at it is, what is wrestling exactly? Controlling your opponent and getting them to the ground to pin them.
If you aren't able to get someone to the ground, you're forced to stand and fight.
Judo fighters are usually stand up fighters, some have better submission game than others or just choose to use it more than others while some of them like to stand and bang. |

they're super strong, sick worth ethic blah blah. they're good counters to BJJ guys who have shitty stand up exclusively, but worth very little against equally strong everything else. ground and pound left this sport 4 years ago. |
