As far as i recall you live in Edinburgh which is wonderful city from what ive seen.
Its fucking winter and it sucks, but id still say go out and take walks every day (as far as its not a fucking blizzard outside), im sure that there are alot of places you always wanted to go to but you didnt bother to (like "oh i can always go there" type of thing). Like Khan said read a good book, get C on Iccup or just play some good old game like HL or Quake for like 30m-1h a day. If you want to kill large amoutns of time just go to reddit, but i wouldn't advise that
Preferably go out and meet people.

- try gain some more skills applicable to your new job if possible, talk with ppl etc about what might help you improve (maybe you already know)
- walk/run places, go to parks etc.. exercise for fun
- talk with ppl
- read
