<img src="http://www.liquidpoker.net/staff/Raidern/corwincole.jpg" align="right" style="margin:5px; border:1px solid black;">Corwin '[vital]Myth' Cole, one of our mods, oldest posters and best players, was off to a good start and finished the opening day of the $10,000 Main Event in the chip lead! Myth now leads the field with 228,200 chips, which is 7.5 times his initial stack. Myth is also ahead of the whole Day 1B field, as the chip leader of that day left the Casino with 201,050 in his chip bag. This is the 2nd year in which the players start with a 30,000 stack.
Day 1A had a total of 1,125 entries. It may look like an unimpressive number, but that follows the average of the most recent editions. In 2008, 1,297 played Day 1A, and in 2009 the number of registrations in that Day was 1,117. If we also consider Day 1B, which was played yesterday, then we have a 30% increase in participation over last year. In 2009, after the first two days, we had 1989 entries, while this year the number reaches 2,614. The expectations are that the next two starting days will attract even more players, just like it happened in the previous years.
After two playing days, there is a big list of casualties, and some of the eliminated are: Bertrand 'Elky' Grospellier ( ), Annette Obrestad, Ivan Demidov, Erick Lindgren, Justin Bonomo and Joe Sebok. Obviously there are many more, and you can find a bigger list on the WSOP website.
On a more interesting note, among those who will return are: Michael Mizrachi, Barry Schulman, Chris Moneymaker, James Dempsey, Gavin Griffin and Chris Bjorin.
Last year, Joe Cada, who is playing Day 1C at this very moment, finished Day 1 in the chip lead and managed to take down the whole thing. Hopefully Lady Luck will be side-by-side with every LPer in this tournament! Congrats Myth and Go LPers!
