NBC's Poker After Dark is back, with a brand new series for 2010! The first episode of this sixth season of the popular pokershow will be aired on January 4th, so tonight/tomorrow morning at 2.05 ET, and according to the directors, we can expect fireworks.

The new season will have many of its familiar faces. Ali Nejad and Leeann Tweeden will once again be providing the commentary and hosting the show, as we've seen them do in previous seasons. On the very first episode however, Nejad will be playing poker as the season kicks off with "Commentators III", featuring Nejad, Howard Lederer, Gabe Kaplan, Joe Sebok, Mark Gregorich and Kara Scott.

The season will show 13 parts. 7 of them are the usual six-handed winner-take-all freezeout tournament, while the other six weeks are filled with 3 cashgames, with various buy-ins that will air over a two-week period. In these events we will be seeing the familiar players like Tom Dwan, Phil Hellmuth, Doyle Brunson, Howard Lederer, Phil Laak, Antonio Esfandiari, etcetera. But this new season also brings 13 new players to the table, like Annette Obrestad (she's finally old enough to play in the USA), James Akenhead and Kara Scott.

The first part of the schedule:

Week of January 4th - Commentators III
Howard Lederer, Gabe Kaplan, Joe Sebok, Ali Nejad, Mark Gregorich, Kara Scott

Week of January 11th – Nicknames
Annette Obrestad, Mike Matusow, Antonio Esfandiari, Erick Lindgren, Phil Laak, Phil Hellmuth

    Week of March 15th - Cash Game $50,000 buy-in, Part 1
Chris Ferguson, Phil Hellmuth, Antonio Esfandiari, Brandon Adams, Todd Brunson, Mike Matusow

    Week of March 22nd – Cash Game $50,000 buy-in, Part 2
Todd Brunson, Mike Matusow, Phil Hellmuth, Brandon Adams, Antonio Esfandiari, Chris Ferguson

Week of April 19th - My Favorite Pro
Craig Ivey, James Ashby, Steve Bartlett, Phil Hellmuth, Jens Voertmann, Chris Ferguson

Week of April 26th - He Said, She Said
Erica Schoenberg, Jean-Robert Bellande, David Grey, Karina Jett, Mike Matusow, Annie Duke

The dates for the other episodes are yet to be announced. The line-up how-ever is already known. These are:

Cash game ($100,000 minimum buy-in): Phil Hellmuth, Eli Elezra, Doyle Brunson, Tom Dwan, Gus Hansen, Phil Laak and David “Viffer” Peat

Lonesome Shark: Erick Lindgren, James Akenhead, Antonio Esfandiari, Mike Matusow, David Williams, and Brad Booth.

Mixed Martial Arts: Bruce Buffer, Patrik Antonius, Dan Henderson, Randy Couture, Howard Lederer, and Erick Lindgren.

Cash game ($150,000 minimum buy-in): Tom Dwan, Patrik Antonius, David Peat, Eli Elezra, Gabe Kaplan, and Alan Meltzer.

    Charity in Mind:
Phil Gordon, Chris Ferguson, Jennifer Harman, Howard Lederer, Andy Bloch, and Annie Duke.

There will be no broadcast in February due to the Winter Olympics, of which the rights are also owned by NBC. These episodes can be seen on NBC, and can usually be found on PokerTube or YouTube the day after.

Wowwww, they really needed Hellmuth to be in the MMA lineup.

Why couldn't they take a striker with a bad temper instead of Couture and put Hellmuth in the mix?

kaplan and meltzer for the 150k buyin game...dwan and antonius probably got hard when they saw the lineup

I will grind you into dust.

Ferguson is so boring to watch in cash games. I'll never understand why they continue to put him in anything besides tournament format games. This lineup needs more Dwan and Antonius but it'll be sick to see Couture...wonder if he's any good.

shoving here as a bluff at 50NL is like explaning calcalus to a 6 month old cat wtf are you thinking - TalentedTom

i like HSP much much more than PAD because all the bullshit that kills the poker action. I am not interested in watchin them flip or play propbets. I mean its ok to waste some time on flips. But they are killing the show with it. Also the comentators are pure boring, and are pretty bad at pokerz. Kaplen+Benza are best. Dwan playin is always extremly enjoyable to watch.

Dont chase the paper, chase the dream!

Not that exciting line ups, the 100k cash game looks sweet tho.

The normal game lineups are always boring as hell but as usual one or two of the cashgames look interesting at least. Could be worse I suppose.
