Face the Ace; a new heads-up pokershow

The first episode will be aired on August 1st 2009 and it will continue for 7 episodes, all on Saturday evening. The show is hosted by Steve Schirripa, also known as Bobby 'Bacala' Baccalieri.

The producer of the show is the company Poker Productions, who also produce Poker After Dark, said the show is about amateur pokerplayers playing well known poker pro's heads-up. When the amateur wins three matches in a row (and thus beats 3 pokerplayers considered to be amongst the best out there), he will walk away with $1,000,000 !

The structure of the show is slightly similar to "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?". The player starts with choosing 4 doors and he'll play the poker pro behind that door. If he wins, he can either chose to take the cash and quit, or face another opponent and increasing his prize money. If he beats the second player, he can once again chose between cashing out or playing on to win one million dollar! If he loses, it's all gone...

So who will he face? No, not some random tournament winners or "that guy that got 3rd in last that WPT event", but some of the best out there (amongst others ): Phil Ivey, Howard Lederer, Chris Ferguson, John Juanda, Jenifer Harman, Erik Seidel, Allen Cunningham, Patrik Antonius, Gus Hansen, Mike Matusow, Phil Gordon, Andy Bloch and Erick Lindgren.

Qualification to this event goes by Full Tilt Poker freerolls, win the round one freeroll, then the round 2 freeroll and finish in the top 10 of the Final Qualifiers and you win a package to Vegas. Those 10 players will than have to audition to be able to play on the TV-show, most likely 7 of them will be picked to actually be on the show. why would they make people audition and send 3 home ? it doesnt make sense.

I guess they don't find all players as suitable for TV. It kinda sucks when you're one of the 3, but at least you get a 5 day vacation to Vegas.

seriously if the guys at the show don't wanna lose their money ever they should just get the top internet HU players (of course they should coach them on how to behave on tv, but a lot of those old farts are pretty boring also anyway), gogo fayth on tv
