So it was up to Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier to be the first to attempt to get a world record, for playing the most SNG tournaments in 1 hour. Yesterday in Monte Carlo, his attempt to set the record was successful. There were only a few rules:

    * He has just one hour to open as many $6.50 Sit & Go’s as he can.
    * He has to finish playing at all the tables he’s sat down at.
    * He must finish with an overall positive bankroll.

Especially that last part turned out to be pretty tricky. After 10 minutes there were 26 tables open at the same time, and it got really hard to keep up the pace. A few hands timed out, missclicks followed and he busted out in a few tournaments. This was also due to the fact that he picked turbo SNG's for this, which meant he had only a few seconds per hand to decide what to do.

It went the wrong way early on, and with a lot of people watching and 4 monitors to watch, it wasn't easy for the French Team PokerStars Pro. However, he got up to speed after little over half an hour, winning a few SNG's in a row and he made up the loss and began to make a small profit. At the end of the hour, a total of 62 tables were reached, which meant that would be the record. If only... He still needed to get a profit at the end, and as he was nearing the end of his SNG's it turned out to be pretty close. At the very last of his SNG's, he was actually down a few dollars, which meant he had to cash in the last SNG he was playing! Fortunately he managed to win it, after hitting 2 pair with 75o against his opponent's 98o. Final results: +$23.60 , or an ROI of 5.8%. Would he not have made the money on the last one and he'd be down $3.40.

This means he is now the new (and first) World Record holder for most SNG tournaments in 1 hour. He mentions he could have done better, so we'll have to see how long the record lasts.

really sick
can anyone tell how this works, i cannot believe he ever limps or play hands post flop? he would be timed out so fast? but kind of push or fold sitiuations? i am wondering about a gameplay video about this record.

62 in one hour ey?

Boku played 51 at the same time, pretty sure he did more than 62 in an hour : /

I don't think elky used any helpful software or scripts here (anyone know/care enough to watch the video?). That might be a big difference.

i watched the video, it took me like 20+ mins cuz i had to keep buffering, but i thought it was really cool and pretty inspiring.

As I said in the other thread, in the wake of Boku winning that prop bet makes 62 look really unimpressive and the whole affair pretty lame for making a huge deal out of it when there have been far more impressive feats done where SNGs are concerned.

I was at one of the tables . . . he timed out a lot, and basically pushed or folded. He went out on the bubble playing very few hands.

tomorrow, for sure

i have a question
lets say elky gets JJ very early, gets all in, and loose
does that sng counts?

it seems ideally, elky should play really agressively early on so he can either double up or bust, so he plays as many of them as possible.
Or if he sees hes doing really well, when theres 59 minute left, he could open up a bunch even if that will make him loose some...

The deal was entering as many in an hour as possible, and he had to finish money ahead. Still seems to me that playing tight early is the way to go, as so many players bust early in the games at this level. You can cash by doubling twice if you haven't donked off your chips early.

imo, without any script, its easier on 1 screen because you dont have to move your mouse a lot

I sometimes fold AA preflop to balance my range

Was he doing STTSNG's or MTTSNG's?

If he was doing STT I think it'd be a lot harder because he has to cash a lot more frequently and be faced with a lot more bubble decisions.

boku is some german guy who played sngs 16 dollars and lower and turned 100 dollars into 10K in less than 15 days.

he started playing 1 dollar, 3dollar tourneys for a while, he multied like mad. he did use a script just for windows managing (its not cheating at all) and he has a video of him playing up to 51 tables before his computer crashed (allegedly)

Yeah, so how is this achievment of Elky bettter then what boku did ?

You can't compare Elky's challenge to Boku's one.

Because Boku never played THAT many tables at one time.

I don't get why would you bitch so much.
Nobody played 62 tables before, ElkY did.
If Boku is ready to do so, we will have another post on liquidpoker soon

he had 50 tables on AT ONCE so that means he probably had more than 62 in an hour

I think according to poker news vidya on pokertube.com Elky says he was doing STTs.

Hitting up 50+ STT's is way harder than 50+ MTT's imo. So many bubble decisions at once...

Sliggy   Australia. Apr 30 2009 12:10. Posts 742

well whether this is impressive or not, hopefully it secures elky a seat on HSP next season.

True that. Plus, everyone on pokerstars was invited to try and knock him off, so his shoves were getting called by anything.

lol. fail.

Boku will never do this and could obviously do A LOT better, this is just a stupid ridiculous and pointless challenge for a publicity stunt.

case close.

Boku can't multitable STT's very good... he definitely cannot do this.
If you read the 100 to 10k thread, someone mentioned he wasn't that great at STTs.

Boku > ElkY !!!

In his interview ElkY said "at one point i was playing 40 tables at the same time....". Elky FINISHED for 1 hour 62 SnG BUT never played at the same time 62 SnG's.

There is a clip how Boku is playing 51 SnG AT THE SAME TIME, you can see it in youtube.

Absolute Poker has hotkeys so I think he could have set a higher record there. The basic is like F1 fold, F2 check F3 bet F4 call...etc . More advanced is like...Ctrl+# can group all cards togther....hotkey your Aces..suited cards...I'm pretty sure you can even use the shift key to issue multiple commands for later streets.
