Ivey accepts Durrr's challenge! -update

<img src="http://www.tlpoker.be/staff/Pindarots/09Januari/philivey.jpg" align="right" style="margin:6px; border:0px solid black;">When Tom "durrr" Dwan challenged the pokerworld for a heads-up match giving 3:1 odds, all eyes were at players like Phil Ivey to take it on. Now it's official, Phil Ivey accepted the challenge and we're looking into an epic heads-up battle between the biggest winners online. In a phone conversation with Barry Greenstein on PokerRoad Radio he confirmed that he'll be playing Dwan, but he doesn't think he's got an edge.

Even more interesting is that Ivey mentioned that David Benyamine and Patrik Antonius might be up for the game first. David Benyamine said he had not accepted the challenge yet, but is still considering. Whether or not Patrik Antonius has or has not officially confirmed yet is still unknown, however, Dwan stated to Ivey in a phone call that "he's gonna play someone else first".

Ivey stated: "You know what, the funny thing is he probably does have an edge. But you know, like, I don't know, it's just something tempting about that million and a half to that $500,000.". He also mentions that he doesn't think Durrr and the other players realize how long 50.000 hands is and that "Somebody’s probably going to go broke". Ivey usually plays 2 tabled heads-up, so it might take him some time to get used to the 4 tables, but he's confident he'll have time to catch up in those 50.000 hands.

As you could have read before, two players will be playing 50.000 hands 4-tabled heads-up at $200/$400 NLHE or PLO blinds minimum. If Dwan is up 1 dollar or more at the end of the 50.000 hands, he'll get $500.000 from the one accepting the challenge (Ivey for example). If the other player is up at the end he'll get $1.5 million from Dwan. So 3:1 odds on the sidebet, and we can expect huge swings throughout these hands.

Update: Patrik Antonius has now officially confirmed he's up for the challenge as well. He confirmed it in this interview with CardPlayer.

And i have a number in my head that he had made something like 3-4 Millions from online poker back than.
since that time he has made ~ 5 million from online poker on FT ( Highstakes database)

So its only a rough estimation.

I dont know how much he made from Pokerstars on his Holdem_Nl account , i dont know what he made in live cashgames + i dont know how much money of that he actually did spend.

Even if one of them has 10BB/100 edge over the other then over 50K hands it's only 2mil. I don't see anybody going broke at all

So if Ivey crushes Durr he's gonna get around 3 mil total prolly

poker events and scandals over the past few months have been fairly negative for the nonhardcore poker 'fan' populace (which is definitely important for the wellbeing of the more serious players), so this is a GREAT shot in the arm for the game.

really really stupid bet by durrr imo. there are way easier games for him to play than this and this will take up a significant amount of time for each bet.

but really awesome and should be a ton of fun to watch and keep up with.

for the record durrr has made way more than 8m. i believe beforethis year he made 3-4 mill and this year hes up more than the main event winner....if i had to guess it would be about 13mill total

There's only one place to watch this go down and it's called FTP. I'm sure that FTP must be staking him partially for this cause it is EV+ publicity and new accounts.
