Greg Raymer to write a book about poker strategy

This comes as a surprise to everyone, but 15 years after his success at World Series of Poker, Greg Raymer announced he will write a book about poker strategy.

The publication will be titled “Fossilman's Winning Tournament Strategies” and issued by D&B Poker around the time of next World Series of Poker.

"The first book concentrates on tournament strategies and I think it touches the subject very well. I've described all tournament concepts in detailed and solid way. There are some advanced concepts too, which some do not know about and even the successful players do not fully grasp".

Commenting about the book to one of poker news sites, Raymer put an emphasis on the fact that his book is a kind of a “poker bible for those who begin their poker adventure”. It will also discuss problems which were not covered in other books. For instance strategies for re-entry, rebuy and knockout events.

The publisher of the book, D&B Poker is responsible for “Poker Brat” by Phil Hellmuth and “Life's a Gamble” by Mike Sexton.

It's surprising though that Raymer decided to go with the book now, instead of right after his success. Back in 2004 and 2005 poker was more popular and Greg would have made more money. He says however that today he is a much of a better player than several years ago and it will not be the last one published by him.

Raymer has not been too successful since his victory in the Main Event. He was winning some Heartland Poker Tour tournaments (even a few times in a row), but his only big cash afterwards was in 2009.

I forgot about Raymer. He was one of the regs on the various poker shows who I liked watching for some reason.

Poker on television used to be so fun to watch.

He is super nice and humble IRL, as compared to some other pros.

When I was getting in poker in ~2006 and I was doing some live reporting from EPT event I took a photo with him (he was super famous at that time after WSOP ME win) and was so stoked to see how the photo came out I left him hanging with his hand forward to shake mine lol, and I didnt even notice. Friend told me, turned around and he completely took no offence in that, laughed it off seeing how I was excited to have a photo with him.

Patrik Antonious is super easy going irl as well, forever my poker idol lol.

Worst player I faced when it comes to manners is Andy Black, not even close. That guy acted like a total touche and thought he's as important as Phil Hellmuth on steroids.
