Aaron Sorkin’s directorial debut, a poker movie titled “Molly’s Game” has now officially released it's first trailer - you can watch it at the end of this news. The all-star cast includes Jessica Chastain, Idris Elba, Michael Cera and Kevin Costner.

Chastain is playing Molly Bloom, who once ran exclusive high-stakes poker games for Hollywood celebrities and rich businessmen. Bloom was charged by the federal government over her involvement in a gambling ring. She pleaded guilty but was able to avoid prison time. Bloom was dubbed the “poker princess.”

Celebrities who played in Bloom-run games in L.A. or New York include Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Toby Maguire. Bloom’s memoir, which the film is based on, included a claim that Maguire once asked her to “bark like a seal who wants a fish” for a $1,000 chip.

Bloom also said that the “Spiderman” star tipped like crap, despite usually winning in the game. According to her, Maguire was the reason the games stopped running. He thought she was taking too big of a cut for hosting and organizing them, Bloom said.

Bloom was making as much as $50,000 a night for setting up the underground games.

None of the aforementioned actors will be playing themselves in the film. Costner is playing Bloom’s father, and both he and Chastain were seen in January filming a scene outside in New York City. Costner will have a major role in the film, but Chastain’s co-star is actually Elba.

The director has never directed a movie before.

Looks absolutely terrible.

And wtf with Idris Elba, he's picking some bad movies to act in latley (dark tower)

The Dark Tower could have been good, unfortunately they chose an incompetent team to translate it to film. Stephen King should have held out for the perfect opportunity like GRRM did.

Alot of Stephen King adaptations are terrible b level flicks/tv movies, so not extremly surprised dark tower was garbage. Never read the book(s ?) , But I'm sure they are good since king knows how to tell a good story.

There's no way to depict The Dark Tower series in a movie, no idea why King rushed indeed... its the perfect opportunity for a tv show with like 6-7 season x 10 eps x 1hr

However it would be much trickier to gain the audience, ASOIF had much greater potential imo.

P.S. my bad thought the director directed the movies he wrote, still think this has a good potential, the trailer revealed pretty much nothing

I feel like I saw the whole movie in 3 minutes. It wasn't a good movie

the movie could be good propaganda though, deluding more people into playing poker.

what made rounders so good was a shockingly relateable depiction of real poker "culture" and the fact that the 2 heroes actually struggle. Another movie about millionaires fucking around with their millions is rather uninteresting.
