 As controversial as he is, Chris Ferguson, former part-owner of Full Tilt Poker has set a new WSOP record after making his 14th cash at the series as well as currently leading the 2017 WSOP Player of the Year Standings.
Chris Ferguson surprised more then a few people when he made his returned to the WSOP last year, with many people still openly and negatively commenting on his involvement in the collapse of FullTiltPoker ponzi scheme. Even people that hate him can't deny his skill though, as he made it to 14th cash of the series on Saturday after finishing in 96th place in Event #58, $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em.
The previous record of 13 cashes was set by Roland Israelashvili at last year's series, (where Ferguson made 10 cashes).
Doyle Brunson asked about Fergusons return to WSOP commented:
"I think Chris is a good guy and has done nice things for people that nobody talks about. I wish him well. "
There are people with different opinions though: 2017 bracelet winner and former November niner John Racener, currently right behind Ferguson in the POY standings with 13 cashes and a bracelet in the $10k Dealer's Choice event said:
"I got a text from my buddy and he said they had Ferguson ahead of me and that didn’t settle well in his stomach. I certainly know that my friends want to see me win ahead of Ferguson.”
