Adrian Mateos outlasted a 64-entry field (comprised of 52 unique players) to take down the €50,000 Single-Day No-Limit Hold'em tournament at PokerStars Championship presented by Monte-Carlo Casino®. He collected €908,000 along with the title and the trophy.

Mateos' name has been featured in the headlines of the most prestigious poker tournaments for four years now but the Spaniard is still only 22 years old. However, his résumé is already packed with a host of great achievements. He'd previously picked up two prizes bigger than his yesterday' payday. Both of his seven-figure results came along with very precious titles, too. Mateos triumphed in the WSOPE Main Event back in 2013, earning an even €1,000,000. He topped it two years later here in Monaco when he became the first-ever Spanish EPT Main Event champion, banking €1,082,000. Mateos' live tournament earnings now exceed $8 million. He's second to Carlos Mortensen on the Spanish all-time money list.

Mateos beat accomplished Canadian poker pro Daniel Dvoress heads-up, capitalizing on his five-to-one chip lead when the final battle started.

Remarkably, Dvoress is yet to report a live tournament win but he's been relentlessly proving his abilities in the toughest fields around the poker globe. Dvoress was the only player to re-enter twice, but eventually walked away with a giant profit, adding another €652,000 to his €832,800 third-place prize from the €100k Super High Roller. Dvoress' live torunament winnings are now just shy of $5 million. He moved to the tenth place on the Canadian all-time money list yesterday.

Third place finisher Eric Seidel earned €423,800 for his efforts. Seidel is one of the most exciting players in history of the game. He's been delivering fantastic results for three decades. He broke $32 million in winnings with his third-prize, and is now just $1 million behind Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu in the all-time rankings.

Fedor Holz is the only player who cashed in all three €50k Single-Day tournaments held at EPT Grand Final / PokerStars Championship Monte Carlo. Holz scooped another €319,800 for a fourth place finish in addition to his fifth place from 2016 (worth €271,670) and fourth place from 2015 (worth €329,800).

The top nine finishers shared the €3,104,640 prize pool. Nick Petrangelo (€248,400), Steve O'Dwyer (€192,400), Ramin Hajiyev (€152,140), Mike Watson (€118,000) and Sergio Aido (€90,100) all made it to the money. Mustapha Kanit, winner of the inaugural EPT11 Grand Final €50k Single-Day Event, bubbled the tournament, leaving in tenth place.
