Team PokerStars Pro Randy "nanonoko" Lew has officially joined our beloved Team Liquid, Hearthstone division!

The official announcement happened during Dreamhack Winter 2016 last week, where Lew played his first tournament. This also means that nanonoko is the second poker player to join TeamLiquid after Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier.

Here is what Nanonoko said after joining Team Liquid:
"I started playing video games competitively with the fighting game community through 'Marvel vs Capcom 2' and transitioned into playing poker full-time. Poker was a natural fit as I had the right mindset to figure out how to beat my opponents and the drive to put in the hard work and dedication necessary to be one of the best. Hearthstone has many similarities to poker in that it’s a turn based card game where you are trying to figure out your opponent’s moves so you can optimize your turn. I think my experience in poker will allow me to learn quickly and fulfill my desire to be one of the best in Hearthstone. As a member of Team PokerStars, I’m honored to be back in the esports competitive scene playing Hearthstone as a part of Team Liquid."

Is there a lot of money in HS now? I hit Legend top 20 and stopped playing as there didn't seem to be much of a point anymore

Eh, not really, tourneys are pretty variance-heavy atm to the point where it diminishes a lot of edges, but there aren't enough tourneys to compensate. There are a few a year that have really big prize pools but it's rarely ever the same people winning them, and the sentiment is that that says more about the nature of HS as opposed to competitive diversity.

The richest HS players are the casual streamers, not the super competitive players.

Top earners at any games are the streamers. You got people like Bjergsen in LoL for example that have over 100k + early salary but make 800k+ from streaming
