Bovada Poker, the single biggest (yet unregulated) U.S. facing online poker site will close down its poker offer as of September 30th. Poker part of the firm has been sold to a company called Ignition Casino.
Players received following info:
" We have important news we want to share with you. Bovada Poker has been acquired by Ignition Casino. This means you’ll be required to transfer your account by September 30, 2016. After this date, poker at Bovada will no longer be available. You’ll still have access to Bovada’s sportsbook, casino and racebook products.
Ignition Casino uses the same platform as Bovada, so the features you enjoy such as anonymous tables, Zone poker, mobile poker and guaranteed tournaments, like the weekly $100K, will be there waiting for you. Both sites will also operate simultaneously with shared player pools until the transition is complete. Any Poker Points that you have accrued on Bovada will need to be used before September 30 as they will not carry over to Ignition Casino.
We’ll do everything we can to make this transition as easy as possible. Please be sure to visit our FAQ page where you’ll find information on account transfers, how to score your generous migration bonus, what to do with your Poker Points and any other questions you may have."
Ignition offers a casino, but no sportsbook (which limits number of recreational players). Also, there is close to no information available about Ignition's parent company, Lynton Limited, according the reporting of Joss Wood at OnlinePokerReport.
Players at 2+2 forum are expecting this move was made in an effort by Bovada to segregate their poker players away from their most valuable clients, which is sports betting.
Here you can find a FAQ regarding the transfer: Frequently Asked Questions: Bovada closing, account transfer.

It's definitely the sportsbettors. Talks of poker and sportsbetting on Bovada have come up with the few normies I know outside of the card room and they're all very candid about their fishiness at poker and the fact that they keep on trying anyway. "yeah so I won a few good bets on bovada and then bought in the for the minimum at 2/4 to keep my losses down ya'know and I tell ya that game must be rigged because......" |

they gave me 20 free slot money when i join but with like 25x rollover, the slots are mostly big bet minimums, this will mean the whales that play slots will play here too, i don't see this as terrible, although the cashgames may take a while to get good |

A bit shady having to switch names but its still my preferred site. I will probably try some other sites since they currently only offer 400HU NL as the highest HU game... but i am very suspicious of sites other then pokerstars already |
