888 Holdings, a company beind the fastest growing poker room, 888poker and a regulated online poker operator in the American states of Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware, is currently in preliminary talks to acquire giant British bookmaker William Hill, according to a report from Bloomberg agency.
888poker teamed up with the Rank Group to make the bid together, the report confirms. The price tag for William Hills business is around $4,000,000,0000 ($4 billion). This is quite interesting, as William Hill recently changed its CEO - James Henderson left the company.
Also, it was last year William Hill which was trying for a takeover of 888 for $1.1 billion. The tables have turned quite fast.
According to Bloomberg, gambling industry consolidation was higher in year 2015 than it has ever been in a decade. The $12.9 billion in deals announced back in 2015 was roughly double that of 2014 and the highest since year 2005, the report also suggests. In 2014, as you may well remember Amaya Gaming bought PokerStars for $4.9 billion.
Do you think it would have any impact on 888poker? Would it be good or bad for the regular players?
