PokerStars adds further restrictions to 3rd party programs

PokerStars increased the restrictions on 3rd party programs that can be used on their site few weeks ago, and their representative, Steve Day, clarified that more big changes were coming: “I want to make completely clear that we are headed firmly toward further restrictions on 3rd party software in the future.” And here we are, PokerStars just made further restrictions - read below!

New restrictions
The new idea behind further restrictions follows the logic that PokerStars presented: additional software must be “basic in nature,” and examples of what is and is not acceptable are provided by the poker room.

Further rules will apply also to HUDs: any HUD can no longer display any non-numeric data, nor can they update or refresh information based on the current street of the hand, and can count information only based on already played hands. That would basically ban the very problematic software from Skier_5 that used to display the best play during the hand for the upcoming streets.

The limitations from now on also apply to number of colors used to display information - there are maximum of three colors allowed. Both Hold’em Manager and PokerTracker, have already updated its software to meet the new color coding restrictions.

Hotkey scripts that modify the actions of a particular keystroke or mouse click based on specifics of the hand have also been prohibited.

There is also quite a big change that impacts how players are seated at the Spin and Go tournaments. SpinWiz, a tool that allowed its subscribers to avoid playing tough opponents (and other players using the software) has been completely prohibited.

Seating scripts, which allow bumhunting and to automatically take a seat at a table based on criteria programmed into the software, remain allowed, unfortunately.

So Flopzilla can't be used anymore in conjuction with Pokerstars. For anyone who consults ranges that have weights in them (like 3betting certain hands 25% and calling 75% in the BB for example) what would be a good program to do the same thing?

Ban cars, not everyone can afford them.

Better yet, ban mouse use in Starcraft, so that everyone has to play longer Starcraft games only with keyboard. Too many people use mouse too fast.

What will you do with the millions of dollars you're going to win playing poker now? You should make plans for it. You can't possibly fail now!
