Day Seven i was really lazy and stayed in bed hungover till 3pm. Ket and mig were sidebetting on various games like chess, typer shark, online minigolf and text twist.
Rain was the last one to bust the $1500 (only mig and rain entered) and got back an hour before the stars $1k started. He didn't have a laptop so left to buy one after registering. He got back an hour into the 1k after blinding down to about 15bb, but still outlasted ket and mig!
Mig made two finals in some small UB tournaments, and i went deep in the $1k busting in 11th. My bust hand was pretty sick, and mig thought it was pretty good but rain hated it.

Basically on the flop, i expected Shaddy Boy to cbet any real hands. Once everyone checked through i assumed i had the best hand, so lead the turn for value/protection. When Shaddy coldcalled i figured he didn't have much, and knowing Plz is a decent player i figured Plz's range is a ton of bluff/semibluff hands - much more than real hands.
Sadly Shaddy Boy somehow had JTo here and busted me. I then lost $100 playing text twist vs mig.com because he runs sick good and gets easy 6 letters. That was about it, Day Eight will have several fun tournament hands from the venetian $540, so stay tuned for an actually interesting post coming up !

I asked my roommate Jeff about this hand (Ghtry2) and we agreed it's a real interesting spot. We both weren't too big of fans b/c it was an unraised pot and you're 35 bb's deep. But then again we're both def. outclassed in that tourney and your logic does seem sound. Still, very interesting spot. |

I hate that term for all poker, its something uncreative nits use to justify sucking at poker. Who cares if you go broke, its either +ev or not. I mean, obviously people have different ranges in unraised pots, so two pair/top pair isn't as strong as in a reraised pot, but you shouldn't be going broke there because you are behind his range - nothing to do with the unraised pot.
Not going broke in unraised pots, and not having big pots with one pair hands is just so dumb - if you think you are ahead, get the money in. |
